Hibernian 0-1 Rangers: Jack Butland's late penalty save secures Danny Röhl's Gers back-to-back Scottish Premiership wins

Hibernian failed to break down Rangers' compact defense as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat at Easter Road. Danilo's fifth-minute opener set the tone for the game, with his second goal of the season giving the away side a foothold in the match.

However, despite Hibs' impressive start, the Gers dominated possession and kept their opponents at bay, posing few genuine threats on goal. Rangers' defense was solid, and their goalkeeper, Jack Butland, made several key saves to deny Hibs scoring opportunities.

In the 87th minute, however, the game took a dramatic turn when Jamie McGrath was awarded a penalty for a handball by Danilo. Butland, who had previously kept out McGrath from the spot at Aberdeen, produced an incredible save to deny the Irish international and secure a crucial win for Rangers.

The clean sheet also marked a rare bright spot for Hibs, who had failed to score in their last 22 games at Easter Road. The shutout brings an end to the Edinburgh side's 16-match unbeaten run at home, while it also secures Rangers' first clean sheet in 25 games – a dismal record stretching back to December.

Despite the defeat, Hibs boss David Gray was disappointed with his team's performance, stating that they had "gifted" the goal away in the first half and failed to create sufficient chances to get back into the game. However, Gray also acknowledged that Rangers were deserving of their win, saying that he didn't think his side had been beaten "off the pitch."

Rangers boss Danny Röhl was more effusive in his praise for his team, describing their performance as a "huge step forward" and praising the fighting spirit shown by his players. The Gers boss also highlighted the importance of winning consecutive games, saying that it would give them momentum going into the weekend's League Cup semi-final against Celtic.

For Rangers, the win was a significant statement of intent ahead of the busy weeks to come. They now take their newly found momentum into the weekend's League Cup semi-final, where they will face off against Celtic in what promises to be an entertaining encounter.

I'm still trying to figure out how Danilo managed to get away with that handball 😂. I mean, you'd think he'd know better than to handle a foul on the edge of the box! Anyway, can't deny Rangers' defense was solid and their keeper made some incredible saves 💪. The drama in the 87th minute though? Unreal! I felt like I was watching a soccer highlight reel 🤯. On a lighter note, 16-match unbeaten run at home for Hibs is quite impressive, even if they did gift that goal away 😔. Rangers are definitely making some noise this season, can't wait to see how they fare against Celtic in the League Cup semis ⚽

Ugh I cant believe we're still stuck on this outdated platform 🤯😩 the article about Hibs vs Rangers is actually pretty interesting tho... so Danilo scored a goal and Rangers' defense was solid, but it's like the stats just show how bad they are doing at Easter Road atm 📊 16 unbeaten home games ended in defeat, that's crazy! 😲

omg rangers totally dominated that game lol 😂 danilo is on fire tho! 1-0 wasn't bad for hibs, but you gotta give it to them, they did have some solid chances 🤔 jack butland was like a wall out there 🚧 but that pen save by him was CRAZY!!! 🤯 rangers are definitely in the mix now 💥 and can't wait to see what they do against celtic this weekend 🎉

Ugh this Rangers team is so frustrating lol their defense is solid as a rock but when it comes to creating chances they just can't seem to score 🤯 Danilo's goals are like a wake-up call for them, I need him to start scoring more goals ASAP 🔥 and what's up with Butland being a robot goalie? 😂 one save from a penalty and he's the hero of the game. Rangers deserved that win though, they played so much better than Hibs 👏 their team spirit is real 💪

man this rangers team is really stepin up their game! danilo's goal was a sick opener but honestly i think hibs played decently well they just didnt capitalize on the chances they had ranger's defense was solid though and butland made some clutch saves 🙌 the penalty save at the end was wild even if jamie mcgrath did commit a foul lol anyway rangers lookin fierce now gonna be intresting to see how they do in the league cup semi against celts

🤔 you know I love football but sometimes it's so hard to watch teams just shut down like that 🚫 Rangers were so solid and Hibs just couldn't break through 🌉 Danilo's goal was like "oh no" 😱 and then they had this amazing chance with the penalty and Butland just saved their lives 💦 I feel for Gray and his team, they looked so frustrated after that game 😔 but you can't argue with Rangers' defense being top-notch 🔒 it's been a while since they've gotten a clean sheet and now they're on a roll 🎉 this win will definitely give them some momentum going into the next big match against Celtic ⚽

So Hibs are like stuck in this rut not scoring at Easter Road for ages and now they just got shut out again 🤦‍♂️. I feel bad for David Gray's team, but at the same time, Rangers were solid and deserved the win. It's crazy how Danilo scored that second goal, really set the tone for the game 💥. But seriously, Hibs need to figure out what's going on and score some goals already! 🏆 Meanwhile, Rangers are looking good, especially with their clean sheet against Hibs. They're gonna take this momentum into the League Cup semi-final and maybe even give Celtic a run for their money ⚔️

Just had to share some bad news about Hibs... 😩 Their 16-match unbeaten run at home just ended in a dismal fashion. 22 games without scoring at Easter Road? That's just brutal. And on top of that, they've now slumped to back-to-back defeats for the first time all season. Not looking good for them, folks... 🤕

I'm low-key disappointed for Hibs 🤕. I mean, they were on top early on and had some great chances, but just couldn't seem to capitalize. And that Danilo handball was a game-changer... Jack Butland's save was insane 😲. It's been 22 games without a goal at home and now that streak's ended. The Gers definitely deserved the win though - they've been struggling with consistency all season 🤔. Rangers seem to be turning it around, and that clean sheet is massive for them 👏. Bring on the League Cup semi-final against Celtic 🎉!

📊💡 So I'm thinking... Rangers' defense was like a rock wall 💪 today 🌆 and it was Hibs who looked like the team playing for a point not a win 🔴👎 Danilo's 2 goals are nice but not enough to break down that solid defense 😐. On the other hand, Jack Butland 🤯 is having an epic game saving so many shots on goal 💥.

Now I'm drawing a diagram 📝 with 3 boxes:
```
+-----------------+
Hibs' Start
Good but then...
+-----------------+
Rangers'
Solid Defense
Jack Butland
v
+-------------------+
Rangers' Fight
Momentum Gains
Confident now
+-------------------+
```
I think this win for Rangers is like a snowball effect ⛰️, they need to keep it going and keep gaining momentum 💪. Hibs on the other hand need to regroup and figure out how to break down defenses 🔒👀

🤔 The 1-0 loss for Hibs is pretty disappointing but I think they can't really blame it on just one game, you know? They had a solid start, and then Rangers just took over and dominated the possession. I mean, Danilo's goal was huge for them, but in the end, Rangers' defense held strong.

It's also gotta be said that Hibs have been struggling to score at home lately, 22 games without a goal at Easter Road is crazy! 🤯 They need to figure out what's going on and how they can break down defenses like Rangers did today.

On the other hand, Rangers looked pretty solid, especially with their defense holding up well. And that save by Jack Butland was mental! 😲 It's games like this that show why Rangers are one of the top teams in the league right now.

I'm curious to see how Hibs bounce back from this loss and how they'll prepare for their next game 🤔

"The only way to do great work is to love what you do." 💪 The Hibs players need to find that love and passion again, because that's what drives a team to success! Rangers, on the other hand, are firing on all cylinders right now. That clean sheet for Rangers is like a wake-up call for Hibs - time to get their act together! 🙏

😒 1-0 defeats suck no matter how you spin it. I mean, Rangers dominated possession and kept Hibs at bay but they still had to rely on a penalty save from their keeper 🤦‍♂️ to win. It's not like Danilo just gave the game away with his handball or anything. And come on, 16-match unbeaten run at home? That's a pretty solid streak right there! 💯 But I guess it's all about momentum now for Rangers as they head into the League Cup semi-final against Celtic 🏆👊

omg rangers are on fire right now 🚀💪 i mean danilo is unstoppable he should get a golden boot for sure tho 🏆⚽️ rangers defense is so solid jack butland is a legend man 🔥 can't wait to see what happens in the league cup semi against celtic
