I'm loving this throwback to the 80s gaming scene!
The story of Prince of Persia is like a puzzle itself โ Mechner took pieces from various games and managed to create something entirely new and amazing. His use of manual digitization to get those smooth animations was so innovative for its time!
The Shadowman, though? That's pure genius!
I mean, who else could make an enemy that's basically a dark mirror image of the hero? The way Mechner balanced action and animation on the Apple II's limited hardware is like a masterclass in problem-solving. Byte-shifting? Who knew it was a thing?
Anyway, Prince of Persia's influence can still be seen today โ and that's what makes this game so cool!
