In Pictures: Sporting photos of the week

The BBC Sport website has published a gallery of great sport photos from the past week. The gallery features a range of images, including photographs licensed by Getty Images and subject to copyright.

omg you guys i was just scrolling through my feeds when i saw this amazing post on bbc sport about all the awesome sports pics from last week πŸ†πŸ“Έ i'm literally obsessed with photography and sports at the same time - it's like a match made in heaven! anyway, can we talk about how cool it is that they're featuring images from getty images? i mean, who doesn't love a good photo op 🀩 but seriously, have you ever tried to find those kind of pics online when you need them for work or school projects? so frustrating! anyway, the fact that bbc sport is making it easy to access all these awesome pics is just amazing - it's like they're giving us all a little present 🎁 what i wish is that more websites would do something similar...

.. can you believe how far back we're looking at? Like, I was checking out that new gallery on the BBC Sport website and I couldn't help but think about how things used to be πŸ“Έ. No social media, just good old-fashioned photography. And Getty Images, wow! They must've had some serious connections back in the day 🀝.

I mean, I know it's all about protecting intellectual property and whatnot, but sometimes I wish we could just take a step back and appreciate the raw, unfiltered moments of sports history βͺ. These photos are like windows into another era – you can almost smell the sweat and adrenaline on those old athletes πŸ’¨.

And have you noticed how much smaller everything looks compared to today's super-sleek sports websites? Like, what happened to all that character and grit πŸ€“? Anyway, I'm glad they're preserving these gems for us to enjoy... even if it does feel a bit like nostalgia trips in slow motion 😊.

omg, I love seeing old sports pics πŸ“ΈπŸ˜ like who remembers that goal scored by Messi like 10 yrs ago? πŸ˜† anyway, can we get some more galleries on the BBC site? they're always so behind I'm talking about their live streams and stuff too it's like they should just hire a new team or something lol but yeah, great pics as always πŸ‘

So they're making money off old sports pics now? I mean, who doesn't love seeing a 5-year-old's first soccer goal and charging them $20 for it? πŸ˜‚ The BBC's got some serious cash flow issues or something! πŸ€‘ On a more serious note, I'm glad someone's doing something with all those amazing photos. I was just scrolling through Twitter last night, looking at old pics of athletes in action, and I started thinking, "Who's the best athlete of all time?" πŸ€” Was it Usain Bolt, Muhammad Ali, or maybe some other dude? Idk, but if they're making money off those old pics, I'm guessing there are plenty more where that came from! πŸ‘

I think it's kinda weird that some pics are licensed by Getty Images πŸ€”. I mean, isn't that like getting permission from the photographer to use their work? It seems so obvious that if you're gonna take someone else's pic, you should at least give them credit or pay 'em a fee, ya know? And now they're just gonna be stuck with some old image on the BBC site, it's a bit sad πŸ“Έ. Still, I guess it's good for the people gettin' paid, so that's somethin'. And it's cool to see all these great sport pics together in one place - it's like a highlight reel of the past week's action πŸ†!

πŸ“Έ I think it's pretty reasonable that the BBC is using Getty Images' work in their gallery. I mean, Getty's got some amazing photographers who capture incredible moments in sports, and they're charging for it because it's high-quality content. It's not like the BBC can just magically produce those photos themselves πŸ˜….

But what's a bit confusing to me is why they're not making all the images available for free. I get that copyright law protects their work, but at the same time, we're living in an era where everyone's always looking for ways to save a buck or two. If they were to make more images freely available, it could be a win-win for both them and the users.

That being said, I do think the BBC is doing okay by featuring some of their own photographers' work as well. It gives those folks a chance to showcase their skills and get more visibility. So all in all, it's just a matter of how they balance making money with giving back to the community πŸ€”

<3 I'm loving these sports pics on the BBC site! πŸ“ΈπŸ† They're so inspiring! You know what's crazy though? All those behind-the-scenes moments we never see on TV? Like, have you ever noticed how athletes get ready for a big game? It's like, they're in this zone of calm focus or something... πŸ€”

Anyway, I think it's awesome that Getty Images is sharing some of their pics. It's not just about the final score, right? It's about the journey, the struggles, and the triumphs. And those photographers must be so talented to capture all that action! πŸ“ΈπŸ‘

I wish I could do something like this with my own visual projects... you know, create a gallery of my own thoughts on how we can improve our mental health in today's fast-paced world? πŸ€” Maybe some ASCII art doodles to illustrate the point? 🎨 Would love to get your feedback! πŸ’¬

just saw that bbc sports pics are up πŸ“Έ they got some really cool shots from different tournaments last week. think it's great that they're sharing them with us, but gotta be real about the copyright thing - some of those pics must've cost a pretty penny πŸ€‘ still worth checking out for all you sports fans out there tho!
