John Harbaugh fired by Baltimore Ravens after 18 seasons in charge

Baltimore Ravens Part Ways with Coach John Harbaugh After 18 Years at the Helm

The Baltimore Ravens announced Tuesday that they have parted ways with head coach John Harbaugh, marking an end to a remarkable 18-year tenure. This decision comes as a surprise, especially considering Harbaugh's impressive résumé and the team's on-field performance under his leadership.

Harbaugh, now 63, leaves behind a legacy of Super Bowl wins, division titles, and playoff appearances that have become the hallmark of his coaching career. He is the most successful coach in Ravens franchise history, boasting a impressive win total that ranks him 12th among NFL head coaches all-time.

Despite his numerous accomplishments, Harbaugh's tenure has been marred by inconsistency, particularly in recent seasons. The 2025 campaign, which was expected to be a championship contender, ended in disappointment with an 8-9 record and a missed playoff spot. This season finale loss to division rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers was particularly painful, as it came after Harbaugh had signed a three-year contract extension just a few months prior.

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti expressed his gratitude for Harbaugh's contributions, both on and off the field, calling him "a Hall of Fame coaching career" and acknowledging the coach's dedication to the community. However, with the team's goal of winning championships still paramount, it appears that Bisciotti has made the difficult decision to part ways with a coach who had become increasingly polarizing in his final seasons.

While Harbaugh's post-coaching career plans are unclear, there have been whispers that he may be eyeing a role as an NFL analyst. This speculation comes at a time when ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that fellow veteran coach Mike Tomlin – the longest-tenured head coach in the league – was also exploring similar opportunities.

With Harbaugh's departure, the Ravens now face the daunting task of navigating their next chapter and finding a new leader to carry the torch. As they bid farewell to one of the most iconic coaches in franchise history, fans can't help but wonder what the future holds for this beloved team.

I'm so bummed to hear that John Harbaugh is leaving the Ravens 🤕 He's been with them for like forever, and it feels weird to think about a new coach coming in. I mean, he's won two Super Bowls and everything! But at the same time, I get why they had to make the change – the team hasn't been as consistent lately, and they need someone who can bring 'em back to the top 🏈.

I'm curious to see what Harbaugh does next though... maybe he'll be a coach on TV or something? 😁 I've heard rumors that he might even be going to work for ESPN. That would be wild! But either way, it's gonna take some getting used to for Ravens fans. We're just gonna have to wait and see who the new guy is and what he can do 🤔

I'm kinda surprised about Harbaugh leavin' Baltimore Ravens 🤔. I mean, 18 years is a long time and he's got some pretty impressive wins under his belt 🏆. But at the same time, their last season was super disappointing and they didn't even make the playoffs 🚫. I guess sometimes you gotta shake things up to get back on track 🔥. I'm curious about who's gonna take over next, but it'll be tough fillin' Harbaugh's shoes 👞.

🤔 I think it's time for the Ravens to bring in some fresh blood, you know? Harbaugh's still got the experience and the passion, but 18 years is a looong time to be at one place. He's been there, done that, and got the t-shirt 🏈... but maybe it's time for someone new to come in and shake things up. I'm curious to see who Bisciotti'll go with next - some young blood or another vet like Mike Tomlin? Either way, gonna be interesting to watch 👀

I'm kinda bummed out about Harbaugh leavin' the Ravens 🤕. 18 years is a long time and he's had some amazing moments, like that Super Bowl win 🏈👏. But, at the same time, his last few seasons were pretty meh, and it's not like they've been makin' playoff appearances willy-nilly since he took over 🤦‍♂️. I get why Bisciotti made the decision to part ways, though - you can't keep stickin' with a coach who's just not bringin' home the wins anymore 💔. Now it's time for someone new to come in and try to turn things around 😬. Wonder what'll happen next 🤔... maybe this is the year the Ravens find their groove again 🎉

idk why ravens did this lol 🤔 like harbaugh's been doing his thing for 18 yrs and he gets canned? that 8-9 record was still decent considering they had a tough schedule 😐 and i'm not saying harbaugh is the reason but he's gotta take some blame for the inconsistency. can't believe steve bisciotti said he's 'polarizing' now 🙄 what even is that? coaches get criticized when their team loses, it comes with the job 🤷‍♂️ anyway guess we'll just have to wait and see who they pick next 👀

man i'm shocked lol john harbaugh gone already feels like yesterday he was leading us to super bowl wins 🤯 i remember when he first took over and everyone thought it was gonna be a disaster, but instead he became one of the most successful coaches in ravens history 💪 18 years is a long time, but i guess you can't keep winning forever right? still can't believe they parted ways now we gotta find a new coach who's gonna bring us that same magic ✨ hope whoever takes over will be able to lead us back to the top

the ravens gotta find a way 2 move on from harbaugh's past inconsistencies 🤔 i mean dont get me wrong he won some super bowls & all but his last few seasons werent exactly fire 🔥 an 8-9 record is just plain weird for a team thats supposed 2 be competing 4 the playoffs every year what r u gonna do w/out harbaugh tho? 🤷‍♂️ might as well get some fresh blood in there n see if they can turn things around

I'm thinking, the Ravens' decision to part ways with Harbaugh after 18 years is kinda like how our politicians switch sides when it's convenient for them 🤔. One minute they're all about winning championships (or in this case, playoff spots), and the next they're looking for a new coach or analyst gig 💼. It's all about saving face and maintaining their legacy, just like how Harbaugh was trying to do that on the field. But let's be real, consistency is key, right? 🤷‍♂️ The Ravens were so inconsistent this season, it's like they were playing politics – one week you're up, the next week you're down 😂. I'm curious to see how Bisciotti plans to fix things and get this team back on track. Maybe he should take a page out of Harbaugh's playbook and make some tough decisions, rather than just looking for someone new 🤔.

idk why they let him go, he's been there for 18 yrs, won so much stuff 🤔🏈. I mean don't get me wrong, he's not perfect, had some bad seasons, but you'd think 1 bad season wouldn't be enough to make u wanna dump the guy 💔. And now they're gonna have to find someone new who's gonna come in and try to replicate all that success 🔥. I'm not sure if they can do it 🤷‍♂️. Anyone got any ideas who might take over? 🤔
