NYC grocers say sales dropped this month with shutdown-caused delay in food assistance

man...this is crazy 🤯. grocery stores struggling so hard because of govt shutdown. i get it tho, can't blame them for trying to make ends meet. they're basically running a non-profit operation right now 💸. and to think some ppl are making bank off these shut downs? no way ⏰. glad the gov's reopened tho, those people need their bennies 🙌. gotta keep an eye on this though, sounds like there might be more of this coming down the pipe 👀

omg this is crazy i mean who else can relate to the struggle of not knowing when ur food assistance is gonna be on time?? 🤯 especially in nyc where prices are already through the roof it's like a perfect storm of poverty and hunger and grocery stores having to make tough decisions just to keep up

i feel for those store owners they're doing everything they can but it's hard to keep up with the demand when you're not sure if u'll be getting ur benefits on time i hope they get some sort of support from the government to help them recover from this mess

and omg don't even get me started on the changes to SNAP requirements under trump what if they make it harder for ppl to get assistance next year?? 🤷‍♀️ that would just be a recipe for disaster

omg u guys can imagine walking into stores like Walmart or Whole Foods & literally every 1st item is empty? that's what happened last week in NYC and it was straight crazy 😱 the prices were still low but ppl were getting desperate cuz they couldn't afford food for their families. i feel bad 4 those store owners who had to make tough decisions like ordering less inventory or giving out discounts 🤕 at least now that gov is back on 🙏 and SNAP benefits are coming back, i hope it's not just a temporary fix tho... did u know they changed the rules under President Trump? that's a whole other can of worms 🤯

omg i just heard about this 🤯 it's so sad that grocery stores have to deal with all this stress because of the government shutdown... like they're already struggling as small business owners, and now they gotta worry about food assistance benefits not getting processed on time? 💔

anyway, i'm glad to hear that store owners are trying to make things work for their customers 🙏 by offering discounts and paying out-of-pocket for groceries when needed. it's just a shame that this has to happen in the first place... like, shouldn't we have a system in place that ensures everyone gets access to food, regardless of their income? 🤷‍♀️

and now that the government is reopened, i hope everything goes back to normal for those affected 🙏. but yeah, the uncertainty about SNAP requirements next year is super worrisome... let's just hope they can work out a system that works for everyone 😊.
