See ‘Star Wars’ legend react to Acosta’s Darth Vader impression | CNN Business

Star Wars legend Mark Hamill has expressed his thoughts on a potential spin-off series centered around Luke Skywalker, with none other than CNN's Jim Acosta donning the iconic Darth Vader costume to make the point.

The interview, which has gone viral online, took place during a CNN live broadcast where Acosta attempted to impersonate Hamill as Darth Vader. The result was a hilarious and entertaining exchange between the two.

When asked about his thoughts on the potential spin-off series, Hamill expressed both excitement and skepticism, stating that he is always open to exploring new ideas within the Star Wars universe. However, he also noted that any such project would need to meet certain high standards in order to be considered worthy of the franchise's legacy.

Acosta, playing along as Darth Vader, seemed to enjoy the challenge of embodying the character, and his performance was praised by fans online for its deadpan delivery and commitment to the role.

While no official announcement has been made regarding a potential spin-off series centered around Luke Skywalker, Hamill's comments suggest that there is at least some interest in exploring the character further within the Star Wars universe.

In any case, it's clear that the Star Wars franchise continues to captivate audiences worldwide, and fans are eagerly anticipating new developments on this front.

I'm still reeling from that interview between Mark Hamill and Jim Acosta 😂🤣 I mean, who knew Darth Vader was so funny? But seriously, it's crazy how much enthusiasm the Star Wars fandom has for a Luke Skywalker spin-off series 🚀💫 I've been saying this for years, but it's time to explore more of Luke's story and the aftermath of Return of the Jedi 🔥👊 What do you guys think would make a great show? Would you want to see a focus on Luke's journey as a hero or perhaps a darker exploration of his character? 💭 Let me know!

I think this would be a awesome idea for a show! Luke Skywalker has so much depth to his character, you know? I mean, he went from being this young farm boy to becoming one of the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy. It'd be amazing to see more of his journey and some new stories that explore his past or relationships with other characters. And who wouldn't want to see Jim Acosta as Darth Vader lol 😂👽 I'm all for it if they can make it feel authentic and true to the Star Wars universe 🤩

Dude I gotta say if Jim Acosta can pull off Darth Vader like that he must've had some serious breathing exercises 🤣👽. But for real though, a Luke Skywalker spin-off? That could be cool I guess. I mean who doesn't want to see more of the last hope of the Rebel Alliance in action 🚀💫. The thing is though if it's gonna happen it needs to be done right or else it'll just be another galaxy far, far away... disappointment 😐. Mark Hamill seems like a cool dude about it which is awesome, he's got that whole "I've seen it all" vibe going on 🤓. Can't wait to see what happens next!

omg yall i am literally FREAKING OUT over this news!!! a luke skywalker spin off series would be AMAZING!!! i mean mark hamill is like the ultimate authority on all things star wars and if he's even considering it then its gotta be good!! 🤩 i love how jim acosta channeling his inner darth vader tho lol was so deadpan 😂👀 but seriously can you imagine a whole series about luke's journey from rebel to legend? i need it now!! 💥

I'm loving this idea of a Luke Skywalker spin-off series 🤩! I mean, who wouldn't want more of that iconic hero? And Jim Acosta rocking the Darth Vader costume had me LOL-ing 😂. As someone who's grown up with Star Wars, it's amazing to see how much enthusiasm and passion fans still have for the franchise. The fact that Mark Hamill is open to new ideas but also wants them to live up to the legacy of the original trilogy is totally fair 🙏. Bring on the next chapter in the Skywalker saga! 💫

🤣 omg I'm loving this idea of a Luke Skywalker spin-off! Mark Hamill is always down for some new Star Wars adventures 🚀 but at the same time he's got high standards so I hope whoever makes it will do justice to his character 👍 Acosta as Darth Vader was pretty funny btw 😂 and I can see why fans loved it 💥

I think a Luke Skywalker spin-off series would be awesome 🤩! I mean, we've only scratched the surface of the character's story in the main films, so there's definitely room for more exploration. But at the same time, it has to be done right - we can't just throw some random show together and expect fans to be on board.

I'd love to see a series that delves into Luke's struggles with being a hero, like when he's dealing with all the pressure of being "The Chosen One" or when he's trying to balance his personal life with his duties as a Jedi. It could also be interesting to explore the time period between Episodes III and IV, like what Luke was up to during the Rebel Alliance's rise.

One thing that worries me is how they'd handle the character without Ewan McGregor, who did an amazing job playing Obi-Wan in the prequels 🤦‍♂️. Whoever plays Luke would need to bring a lot of depth and nuance to the role if we're gonna make it work.

Overall, though, I think it's a great idea and I'm all for it 👍! The Star Wars universe is so rich and complex that there's always room for more stories to be told.

I'm so not buying this spin-off series idea... I mean, can you imagine Luke Skywalker getting his own show? 🙄 It'll probably just be some watered-down, soulless attempt at recreating the magic of the original trilogy and Mark Hamill's iconic performance as the dude will never live up to it... And what's with Jim Acosta trying to impersonate Darth Vader on live TV? Did they really think that was a good idea? 🤣 Still, I guess if anyone can make it work, it'll be the guys at Lucasfilm. Fingers crossed they don't mess it up too badly 💔

I'm so over these live broadcasts 🙄. Can't they just record the interview beforehand? I mean, who thought it was a good idea to have Jim Acosta wear a Darth Vader costume on air and then ask Mark Hamill about a potential spin-off series? It's just awkward 💁‍♂️. And don't even get me started on how distracting it was for me trying to watch the interview... I could've sworn I saw my cat sitting in front of my screen, thinking it was part of the show 🐱😹. Anyway, gotta admit that Mark Hamill was pretty cool about it and Jim Acosta's deadpan delivery as Darth Vader was actually pretty funny 😂. But seriously, can we just have a straightforward interview without all the theatrics?

I gotta say, I'm so here for a Luke Skywalker spin-off series!!! 🤩 It would be awesome to see more of his journey, especially after everything he went through in Return of the Jedi 💥. I mean, Jim Acosta's Darth Vader impression was EPIC 😂, but at the same time, it's cool that Mark Hamill is keeping it real about what makes a worthy Star Wars project 👊. Fingers crossed we get to see more of this story unfold in the future 🚀!

This whole thing got me thinking about creative control and intellectual property 🤔. I mean, Mark Hamill is a legendary actor who has been closely tied to the Luke Skywalker character for decades – he should have a say in how that character is portrayed or revisited, right? And what's up with Jim Acosta dressing up as Darth Vader for a point being made about a potential spin-off series? Is that just some corporate PR stunt to drum up excitement? The line between entertainment and marketing can get pretty fuzzy sometimes 😐. Still, it's cool to see fans engaging with the Star Wars universe in creative ways – maybe we'll get some innovative storytelling out of this after all 💫

I'm not sure if a Luke Skywalker spin-off would be a good idea 🤔. I mean, we've got so many other characters in the universe who could get their own show, you know? Like Obi-Wan or even Lando Calrissian! But at the same time, it's always cool to see what new stories can be told within the Star Wars world... just gotta make sure they're done right, you feel? 🤞

I'm so over these live streams! 🙄 They're always either super entertaining or totally awkward, like in this latest CNN thing. Mark Hamill and Jim Acosta's exchange had me laughing out loud 😂, but at the same time, I wish they wouldn't be using it to plug a potential spin-off series. It just feels like another way for them to get our attention without actually giving us anything concrete. Can we just have some juicy news about Luke Skywalker already? 🤔

this spin-off idea sounds kinda interesting lol 🤔 I mean, who wouldn't want to see more of luke skywalker? i'm hyped if they can make it happen without messing up the whole franchise's vibe 😎

I think a Luke Skywalker spin-off series could be cool 🤔 I mean, we've only seen him in The Last Jedi and Rogue One so far, there's still a lot of his story that hasn't been told yet. But at the same time, it has to live up to the Star Wars standard, you know? It can't just be some mediocre show that fans won't care about 😐 Mark Hamill seems pretty open to it though, which is good. And I love how Jim Acosta had fun with the Darth Vader costume 💀👍 Fans are always hyped for new Star Wars content, so fingers crossed this happens! 🤞

I'm so down for a Luke Skywalker spin-off! I mean, who wouldn't want more of that epic space saga? 🚀 But at the same time, it's gotta be done right, you know? Can't just slap some new characters in and expect us to care. Give me some real substance, like what happened after the whole Return of the Jedi thing... I'm still curious about what Luke was up to all those years after the Rebel Alliance victory 🤔. And yeah, Jim Acosta's impression of Darth Vader? 😂 Hilarious! He totally nailed it. Bring on the lightsabers and let's get this prequel party started... err, I mean, spin-off series 💥

idk why they gotta make a spin-off series around luke skwalker tho 🤔...imagine if its just gonna be some weak attempt at adding another layer to an already epic story 🙄. but on the other hand, it could be cool if done right 💡 - mark hamill's got valid points about having to live up to the star wars legacy, which is super high 🤯. and omg jim acosta's Darth Vader impression was actually pretty spot on 😂. gotta keep an eye on this one, i guess 👀

I'm loving the idea of a Luke Skywalker spin-off series 🤔👽. I mean, who wouldn't want to explore more of the legendary Jedi Master's story? But at the same time, it's gotta be done right or it might feel like a cash-grab 💸. The last thing you want is some cheesy, rushed mess that doesn't live up to the high standards of Star Wars ⚔️.

I think what would really make this spin-off series special is if they actually delved deeper into Luke's character development and emotional struggles 🤕. Like, we know he was a hero who saved the galaxy, but what about when he had to deal with PTSD or something? How did that affect him on a personal level? 🤔

And can we please, for the love of all things good, get some actual character interactions between Luke and other beloved characters from the original trilogy 👫? That would be so epic! 😆

I gotta say, I'm not convinced by this Luke Skywalker spin-off idea 🤔. Don't get me wrong, Mark Hamill is a legend and all, but I think we're just rehashing old stuff here. It's been a while since we've seen some genuine innovation in the Star Wars universe 🚀. And what's with Jim Acosta as Darth Vader? 😂 I mean, it was funny, but was it really meant to be taken seriously? I need to see some actual plot points or characters before I get excited about this one 📝. Still, you can't deny the Star Wars magic is still alive and well, even if we are revisiting old ground ⚔️.
