Police in Northeast Philadelphia have made two arrests in connection with a New Year's Day shooting that left two men dead and one injured. Cara Williams-Reeves, 44, and Tyriq Williams, 21, have been charged with murder and related offenses, authorities announced on Friday.
The victims were identified as Luis Colon, 51, who died from multiple gunshot wounds, and Quadir Tull, 21, who was also fatally shot. A 21-year-old man sustained a non-fatal hand wound during the violent confrontation. The shooting occurred at Colon's home in the 7100 block of Oakland Street on Thursday morning.
According to investigators, Williams-Reeves and another woman had allegedly assaulted Colon's wife and stepdaughter on the front lawn before Tull and Tyriq Williams arrived with firearms. A heated exchange ensued, resulting in a shootout between the two groups. The bullets also hit a parked car and entered a nearby residence, causing chaos in the neighborhood.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunshots and screams for help as they watched the scene unfold outside Colon's home. Amy Smith, who lives near the site, described seeing Colon lying on the ground with his wife and stepdaughter standing over him after the shooting.
The suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored Chrysler 300, leaving investigators to review security footage to piece together the events surrounding the deadly confrontation.
