Turkiye’s Erdogan urges Germany to help end Israel’s ‘genocide’ in Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sharply criticized Germany over its perceived ignorance of Israel's alleged "genocide" in Gaza. Erdogan made these comments at a joint news conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Ankara on Thursday.

Erdogan claimed that Israel, which possesses nuclear and other advanced weaponry, is using them to threaten the Gaza Strip. He also stated that Hamas lacks access to similar equipment. Despite a fragile US-brokered ceasefire that took effect on October 10, Israel has continued to launch bombardments on Gaza, killing at least 104 people, mostly women and children.

Erdogan called for international aid organizations such as Germany's Red Cross and Turkey's Red Crescent to be involved in ending the "genocide" and "deliberate starvation" in Gaza. He emphasized that it is both Germany's and Turkey's humanitarian duty to intervene.

Turkish President Erdogan reiterated his support for an end to the conflict, comparing it to Russia's war with Ukraine. He suggested a partnership between Turkey and Germany could be key to resolving the situation. However, tensions exist due to Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar's opposition to any Turkish troops joining an international force tasked with monitoring the ceasefire.

Since its beginning in October 2023, Israel's war on Gaza has resulted in at least 68,527 deaths and 170,395 injuries.

I'm worried about the situation in Gaza 🤕. Erdogan's comments might be seen as a bit dramatic, but I get where he's coming from – it does seem like Israel is using its military advantage to target civilians. The fact that Hamas doesn't have access to similar equipment is a big imbalance. What really gets me is how many people (104+ already) are getting caught in the crossfire 🤯. It feels like we're stuck between a rock and a hard place, with neither side willing to give an inch. I'm not sure what the solution is, but it's gotta be something that involves more than just words – we need real action on the ground.

I'm really worried about what's happening in Gaza 🤕... I mean, Israel's got some serious firepower, but is it really necessary to just bomb the place? It feels like they're playing with fire and people are getting burned 😩. Germany's gotta step up and do more than just offer words of sympathy - we need action 💪. And what about all those innocent civilians who've lost loved ones? It's heartbreaking, fam 🤯. I get that Erdogan is trying to make a point, but can't we all just talk this out without resorting to rhetoric? Turkey and Germany should be working together, not against each other 🤝. We need an end to this cycle of violence ASAP 💥...

Wow 🤯 Germany is really under fire now 👎 Israel's actions are super brutal 💣 I mean, a "genocide" or "deliberate starvation"? That sounds like some serious BS 🚫 And Erdogan's right that it needs international attention ASAP ⏰ Turkey and Germany have been friends for ages, so they should definitely work together to help those in Gaza 😔 The situation is just getting crazier by the day! 😲

omg can you even believe whats goin on in israel & germany?? Erdogan is totally right tho, like israel got all these fancy nukes & whatnot, but theyre still just bombin gaza like its nothin 🤯. thats not cool fam! the US brokered ceasefire has been fr for ages now and yet israel just keeps launchin more bombs, it's soooo messed up 😩. I feel for turkey tho, Erdogan's tryna help out & get germany involved to put some pressure on israel, that's a good move 🤝. we need more international aid, like the red cross or somethin'... this is all just so heartbreaking 💔.

🤔 so what's going on here is that turkey is saying germany is just sitting there like a doormat while israel keeps bombing gaza and killing all those people... I mean I get why germany might not want to take sides but come on, Erdogan is right, this isn't right. 🚫 has anyone thought about what's going on from the israeli side? why can't they just stop the violence already? and btw, Turkey and germany do have history together, they were friends for a long time... maybe that's part of the reason Erdogan wants germany to get involved more in this whole thing. 🤝 I'm curious to see how this all plays out, will germany start taking action or is it just gonna sit there? 🙏
