X just paywalled Grok’s deepfakes. They’re still everywhere.

The platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has become a hub for the proliferation of explicit deepfake content, including images and videos of ordinary people without their consent. Users have been feeding images into xAI's Grok chatbot, which generates powerful and largely uncensored image and video content, to create such explicit material. The result is an estimated 84 times more sexualized deepfakes on X per hour than on the other top five deepfake sites combined.

The company xAI has made it possible for users to create these images easily by tagging @grok, although this feature has been recently paywalled for $8 a month. Despite its efforts to address the issue, Grok remains available in the free version of X's app, allowing users to generate deepfakes seamlessly without leaving the platform.

Experts argue that companies like xAI are not mere hosts to hateful or illegal content but creators of it through their own chatbots. Social media platforms like X don't face the same consequences because Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act protects them from liability for much of what users do on their platforms.

However, some experts believe that this shield might finally be cracking as countries begin probes into the sexualized imagery flooding X. Regulators have already condemned the platform's handling of explicit content and called for greater accountability.

The situation has become dire, with advocates stating that it was only a matter of time before the toxic sludge from Twitter combined with xAI's Grok to create a new form of sexual violence. As the deepfake crisis balloons out of control, public pressure is mounting on companies like X to take responsibility for their role in spreading this content.

Critics point out that companies like xAI have made deliberate decisions to allow and enable the creation of explicit content, which should come with accountability. The company's CEO Elon Musk has faced criticism for his handling of the issue, including sharing deepfake bikini photos until recent condemnation from regulators.

The public outrage may finally force a reckoning around this long-in-the-shadows issue. It remains to be seen whether companies like xAI will be held accountable for their role in spreading non-consensual deepfakes on platforms like X.

omg 84 times more sexualized deepfakes on X per hour than the other top sites combined? that's wild 🤯 did u know that 1 in 5 deepfake images are now created using AI chatbots like xAI's Grok? 📊 it's estimated that over 75% of online users have seen at least one non-consensual deepfake video, which is straight up disturbing 😷 the fact that companies are making millions off this toxic content and getting away with it is just not right 🤑 if companies like xAI can make a profit from this, shouldn't they be held accountable? 🤔 also, can we talk about how Elon Musk's deepfake bikini pics were shared until recently? what does that say about his priorities? 📸

anyway, the numbers are in:

* 84x more sexualized deepfakes on X per hour than other top sites combined 🚨
* 75% of online users have seen at least one non-consensual deepfake video 😷
* $8 a month for access to xAI's Grok chatbot, but it's still available in the free version... sounds like a money maker to me 💸

it's time for companies like xAI and Elon Musk to take responsibility for their role in spreading this toxic content 🤝

I'm so worried about the state of online content 🤕. These companies are basically creating a toxic waste dump and letting it spread all over social media 🚮. It's crazy that they can just sit back and make millions from selling ad space while knowing their platform is being used to harm people 😩. And what really gets me is that they're not taking responsibility for it, like Elon Musk, who should know better 💸. I mean, come on, $8 a month for access to a tool that can create explicit content? That's just ridiculous 🤑. It's time for these companies to step up and take ownership of what's happening on their platforms 👊.

omg, i'm soooo worried about the state of x right now 🤯...i mean, 84 times more deepfakes per hour is just crazy!!! and its not even just the quantity, but the fact that it's being created easily with @grok chatbot 💸🔒...companies like xai are basically creating this toxic content and profiting from it, its disgusting 🤑. i get that companies can't control everything on their platforms, but they're still responsible for setting limits and guidelines.

elon musk needs to step up his game and take responsibility for the deepfakes he's sharing, its not like he's above criticism 💔...and what really gets me is that x doesn't have to be this way 🤷‍♀️. with some stricter policies in place, they could prevent users from creating these explicit deepfakes in the first place.

anyway, i'm keeping an eye on this situation and hope that public pressure can force xai to take accountability for their actions 💪. we need change now! 🚨

🚨 I think its crazy how easy it is to create explicit content now 🤯. Like, you just need a few clicks and you're generating deepfakes left and right 💻. And the worst part is that its not just a matter of malicious users being bad guys, its also companies like xAI who are creating this stuff and profiting from it 💸. I mean, they know what theyre doing and theyre making money off of it 🤑. Its time for these companies to step up and take responsibility for whats going on 🤝. We need to have a bigger conversation about online accountability and how its affecting our society 🌎.

OMG, like, the situation on X is getting out of hand 🤯! I mean, who would've thought that creating deepfake content would be a thing? It's soooo not cool when ppl use it to harass others without their consent 😢. And now, with Grok's free version still available, it's like, super easy for anyone to create this stuff... 🤪

I mean, I get it, companies don't wanna take responsibility for all the crap that's on their platforms 💸. But at some point, someone gotta answer 4 the consequences of spreading explicit content 💔. It's not fair to the ppl who get affected by it.

I hope this public outcry leads to some serious change 🤞. Like, companies need 2 take responsibility 4 their role in all this... 🙄. Can't wait 2 see what happens next 🤔.

I'm telling you, it's about time someone spoke up about this 🙄. Companies like xAI are literally creating a nightmare with their Grok chatbot and then wonder why people are getting outraged. I mean, come on, @grok is basically an open invitation to creepers to generate explicit content. And now the platform is charging $8 a month for it? It's like they're trying to profiteer off of other people's misery 😡.

And don't even get me started on Elon Musk, who's more concerned with being "edgy" than actually taking responsibility for his company's actions 🤦‍♂️. Section 230 might be protecting him from liability, but it's not going to protect the victims of these deepfakes. We need to hold companies like xAI accountable for their role in spreading this toxic content, and fast 💥.

It's amazing that experts are finally starting to speak out about this issue, and I'm sure the public pressure will force some changes soon 🔄. But until then, we're stuck dealing with the fallout of these platforms' negligence. Gross 😷

🤯 I'm literally shaking my head over this... like, how can you design a platform that enables the creation of explicit content and then claim you're not responsible for it? 🙄 Companies like xAI are basically profiting off of users' lack of awareness (or ignorance) about what's going on. They're creating these chatbots that can churn out deepfakes in seconds, all while raking in the cash from premium features like Grok. It's like they're pushing a button that says "create toxic content" and then acting surprised when it blows up in their faces. The whole thing is just so messed up. 🤦‍♂️ I mean, come on, $8 a month to access a feature that can create explicit deepfakes? That's just disgusting. And don't even get me started on Elon Musk's handling of this situation... it's like he's trying to make a mockery out of the whole thing. 🙄 The fact that X is getting away with this is unacceptable, and I'm glad regulators are finally starting to crack down. It's time for companies like xAI to take responsibility for their actions and start holding them accountable. 💯

I'm freaking out about this 😱! Like, I get that we need free speech and all, but come on... 84 times more explicit deepfakes per hour is just crazy 💥! It's not just about the users who are creating this stuff, it's also about how easily they can do it without any consequences 🤯. Companies like xAI know what they're doing, they're profiting off of people's intimate images and videos, and now we're seeing the impact on innocent lives 💔.

I think we need to hold these companies accountable for their actions 📚. It's not just about Section 230 being repealed or whatever, it's about recognizing that creating non-consensual content is a form of violence 💪. We can't just sit back and let this happen anymore 😤. The public needs to keep pushing for change until we see real action from these companies 🗣️. Elon Musk needs to take responsibility for his actions, and xAI needs to take down that Grok feature ASAP 🔒!

OMG, like, can't believe what's happening with Twitter 🤯! They're basically creating a breeding ground for explicit deepfake content and nobody's doing squat about it 💁‍♀️. I mean, xAI's Grok chatbot is like, super easy to use and now they've even made it available for free (what?!? 🤑) despite being paywalled for $8 a month... it's like they're encouraging people to create this toxic stuff 🤪.

And don't even get me started on Elon Musk 🙄. Sharing deepfake bikini photos is one thing, but come on, isn't that like, a big deal? 😳 It's clear that he's not taking responsibility for the platform's role in spreading explicit content, and I think it's time someone held him accountable 👮‍♂️.

The public outrage is justified 💯. Companies like xAI have made these deepfakes easily accessible to users, which means they're basically creating a culture of non-consensual sharing 🤷‍♀️. It's time for them to step up and take responsibility for their role in this crisis 🚨.

I just saw the cutest video of a cat playing with yarn 🐈😹, and it got me thinking... have you guys ever noticed how our brains can wander so easily when we're scrolling through social media? I mean, one minute we're looking at cute animal vids, the next we're reading about deepfakes and feeling all sorts of anxious 🤯💔. Anyway, back to this whole X thing... it's crazy that companies are basically creating their own content without any real accountability 🤑👀. And what's up with the $8 a month fee for Grok? Like, who pays $8 a month for AI-powered deepfakes 😂?
