Devon and Cornwall, East Anglia, and parts of Scotland are still expected to be in drought by spring 2027 under even the most optimistic rainfall scenarios. This is a stark reminder that England’s water woes are far from over.

The Environment Agency’s plea for everyone to use less water to speed up drought recovery is timely, but it also highlights the need for more drastic measures to address the root causes of this crisis.
