The sheer force of the waters was a stark reminder of the park's vulnerability to extreme weather events.
According to Justin Johndrow, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, about half an inch to an inch of rain fell within 30 minutes in a rocky area of the park where there is a steep drop in elevation.
