This move is long overdue, given Malaysia's struggles with unregulated online spaces where youth are exposed to cyberbullying, child pornography, and other forms of exploitation.
As part of these proposed rules, set to take effect on June 1, online service providers will be required to implement safeguards that limit account registration and ownership by users under 16.
