Alonso tells Alexander-Arnold to 'enjoy' Liverpool return no matter how fans react

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been left to enjoy his "nice" return to Liverpool, with head coach Xabi Alonso advising him not to worry about the hostile reception expected from the fans. Despite being the subject of fan anger due to his acrimonious departure last season, Alonso believes Alexander-Arnold should relish the opportunity to face his boyhood team.

The 27-year-old's move to Real Madrid has been marked by injury and inactivity, with him missing out on his Champions League debut against Marseille. However, Alonso is confident that Alexander-Arnold is an exceptional player who will be a valuable asset to the squad.

For Alonso, Alexander-Arnold's return to Anfield is a welcome one, bringing back fond memories of their time together at Liverpool. "He has great qualities," Alonso said, "and we need his qualities right now." While he acknowledged that Alexander-Arnold's history with the club was different from his own, Alonso advised him to enjoy the moment and not worry about how the fans react.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot also promised Alexander-Arnold a warm reception, but admitted that he was unsure how the home crowd would react. "I can only tell you what kind of reception he gets from me," Slot said, "and I have great memories of the player and the human being." With Alonso's advice to enjoy his return, it seems likely that Alexander-Arnold will be given a chance to prove himself on his debut back at Anfield.

I'm not surprised he's gettin' roasted by the LFC fans 🤣... I mean, come on, he ditched the Reds for Real Madrid! 😂 Still, you gotta give him credit, Alonso knows what's good about Trent - that kid's a top player ⚽️. I remember when he was comin' up through the youth ranks, everyone was hyped about his potential 🤩... and now he's back in the Premier League, ready to prove himself all over again 💪. Alonso's right, we need players like Trent who can bring that magic to the pitch ✨. And hey, if the fans are gonna be tough on him, at least he'll know what's comin' 😂... but I'm sure he'll show 'em what he's made of in no time 🎯!

Ugh, another forum post about sports news that's more focused on the players than the actual game. I mean, can't we get some decent discussion going here? 🤦‍♂️ Anyway, Trent Alexander-Arnold's return to Liverpool is definitely a big deal, but come on, people are still salty about his departure last season? It's like he's not even a part of the team anymore. And now Xabi Alonso is advising him not to worry about the fans, like that's going to make everything okay. I get it, Alonso was a great player and all, but can't we have a more nuanced conversation about this? Like, what exactly happened between Alexander-Arnold and the fans? 🤔 And what does this say about the state of Liverpool FC as a whole? Is this really the best they've got to talk about? 😒

I feel bad for Trent Alexander-Arnold 🤕, he got roasted last season and now he's back at Liverpool 🏟️. I think it's cool that Xabi Alonso is looking out for him tho 😊, like if you're in their shoes, you'd wanna enjoy the moment too, not stress about what others think. But I'm curious how the fans will react, I mean I love a good underdog story 🤔, Alexander-Arnold's gonna need to bring his A-game if he wants to win them back over 💪

so Trent's back and Alonso is saying he shouldn't worry about the fans giving him a hard time 🤔, but I'm not so sure... I mean, I get it, he's an exceptional player and all that, but he did leave in a pretty dramatic fashion last season 🚨. Still, if Alonso believes in him and Slot is promising a warm welcome, maybe he'll be able to ease back into things 😊. But can you imagine walking out onto the pitch at Anfield with those fans going mental? 🎟️ it's gotta be nerve-wracking for him...

🤔 omg i think trent is gonna get roasted when he comes back lol but seriously alonso is right, the guy has been through so much with his move and hasn't even gotten to play in the champs league yet. that's gotta be tough. but Alonso knows him well so maybe he's right about Trent just enjoying it and not worrying too much about the reaction 🤗

I don’t usually comment but... I feel bad for the guy 😔. He’s been through some tough times and now he’s coming back to a team where he’s kinda... not exactly on good terms with the fans 🤷‍♂️. I mean, I get it, he left in a pretty messy way last season, but 27 is still young! You think most people would wanna just come back and face some heat 💥? Alonso seems like a cool dude tho 👍, giving him advice to enjoy the moment and not worry about how the fans react. Maybe that’s the right attitude for Alexander-Arnold 🤞. Can only imagine how it’ll play out in real life though 📺.

omg can you blame him for being emotional about returning to Liverpool 🤷‍♂️? I mean Trent is like a Liverpool legend now, has been with the team since he was 16 lol! Alonso is right though, he should just enjoy it and not sweat the small stuff. but still its gonna be awkward, i can feel the tension from here 😬. slot's words are pretty cool tho, remembering him as a player is a nice touch. hope trent gets a warm welcome... or at least no boos 🙏

omg i feel bad for trent!! 😱 he must be so nervous about coming back to liverpool after that drama last season 🤯 Alonso is right tho, the guy's an amazing player and we need him in our squad 💪 slot too said nice things about him 🙌 but can you blame the fans a bit? 🤔 still, i hope trent can put all the hate aside and show us what he's got 😉

I think its kinda funny how Trent got roasted last season but now Alba is like "chill Trent" lol 😂 imagine being the only one in the squad who's still friends with your former enemy 🤣 anyways, Alonso seems right though, Alexander-Arnold is an elite player and we need people like him. but what really gets me is how much love and respect the lads at Liverpool have for Alba now, its like he never left 🙌 maybe its a good thing he took that move to Madrid tho, we dont wanna be stuck with one player who's always injured 🤦‍♂️
