Bad Company's planned Rock & Roll Hall of Fame performance has hit a snag as lead singer Paul Rodgers won't be able to join the reunion. Despite previously expressing excitement about reuniting with drummer Simon Kirke, Rodgers revealed on Instagram that his health must take priority and he will not be participating in the show as initially planned.
Rodgers' decision comes amid his ongoing battle with strokes, having suffered 11 minor and two major ones over the past decade. The reunion with Kirke would have marked their first performance since 2019, a milestone they had been looking forward to. However, it seems that stress will be the limiting factor for Rodgers.
Kirke has confirmed the performance with Gold Derby, stating he's "cautiously" excited about playing alongside Rodgers again, saying, "I think the secret is out that we will perform." The drummer even joked about not caring which songs would be played, as long as they got to perform together. Despite his enthusiasm, Rodgers emphasized the importance of prioritizing his health.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on November 8 will also feature other notable performers such as Iggy Pop, Olivia Rodrigo, Elton John, David Letterman, and Beck. The lineup boasts a diverse range of legendary artists across various genres.
In related news, many more iconic musicians are set to be honored at the ceremony, including Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, Soundgarden, the White Stripes, Salt-N-Pepa, Warren Zevon, Thom Bell, Nicky Hopkins, Carol Kaye, and Lenny Waronker.
