man this is getting out of hand ... i get where fleck's coming from but renaming the center isn't like a huge deal, just a name change ... and artists should be able to play wherever they want, doesn't mean they have to endorse the whole institution ... it's like when i'm at a festival and someone plays a song that i don't agree with, doesn't mean i'm gonna boycott the whole thing ... but at the same time, fleck is known for his politics so if he can't handle it there, maybe he should just stick to his own shows?
man i feel bad about this ... like i get that Fleck had some major issues with the new direction of the Kennedy Center but cancelling his show on like 2 days notice? seems a bit harsh, you know? he's one of the most respected musicians out there and to just bail on a performance like that is pretty bold. plus he was supposed to play with the symphony ... i get that politics can be super sensitive but shouldn't we all try to find a way to make it work? Fleck's also gonna lose some serious cash by cancelling, which is always a bummer for artists. idk what's gonna happen next, but hopefully other artists don't feel pressured to follow suit
Omg I'm so worried about The Kennedy Center now they're literally changing everything and pushing out all these talented artists who don't align with their "new" vibe I get it, Béla Fleck's views aren't gonna fit in with the Trump-Kennedy Center crowd but like shouldn't art be about expressing yourself and bringing people together? The whole thing just feels super shady to me...
omg u guys can't believe what's going down at The Kennedy Center? i mean i get why béla fleck would wanna cancel his performance, but like, isn't it just one show tho?! i was really looking forward to seeing him live anyway, this whole thing is kinda crazy how the politics are affecting the arts community...like shouldn't music be about bringing ppl together not dividing them?
