Cinderella review – you shall go to the beach with this breezy seaside panto

Cinderella: A Sun-Kissed Take on a Panto Classic

Joe Tracini's Cinderella is the perfect antidote to a chilly winter's night, transporting audiences to the sun-kissed seaside town of Crabbington Sands. The production, which opened at Norwich Theatre Royal, is a hilarious and heartwarming retelling of the classic panto tale.

At its core, the show is all about embracing the festive spirit, with an ensemble cast that shines in their pastel-colored finery. Aimee Leigh's choreography brings a playful energy to the stage, while designer Kirsteen Wythe's costumes are undeniably eye-catching, if perhaps a tad impractical.

Georgia May Foote makes a pleasant lead as Cinderella, bringing a likable everywoman quality to her portrayal of the titular character. However, it's not all smooth sailing – Cinderella's romance with Prince Buttons (Danny Hatchard) feels underdeveloped, and she often comes across as slightly insipid.

The real stars of the show, though, are Owen Evans and Kenny Moore as the wicked sisters Lou and Lav. The duo bring a deliciously over-the-top energy to their performances, which are guaranteed to leave you giggling in the aisles.

Tracini also gets a chance to shine in one of the production's many comedic set pieces – an "air friar" routine that has him dangling from a rope as he dodges enthusiastic schoolchildren. It's just one of several jokes so bad they're brilliant, and the show's sheer enthusiasm is infectious.

While the plot does eventually get bogged down, Andrew Lynford's production never loses its sparkle. With a talented cast and plenty of panto staples to keep things lively, Cinderella is a fun and entertaining way to kick off the festive season.

Cinderella runs at Norwich Theatre Royal until January 4th – don't miss it!

I was like "yaaas" when I saw this show review - a sun-kissed take on a panto classic sounds so refreshing after a chilly winter 🌞🎄. The fact that the cast shines in their pastel-colored finery is just too cute, and Aimee Leigh's choreography brings a playful energy to the stage 💃. I kinda feel meh about Cinderella's romance with Prince Buttons tho, but Owen Evans and Kenny Moore as the wicked sisters Lou and Lav are absolute perfection 👯‍♀️. The show's enthusiasm is so infectious, it had me giggling too - Andrew Lynford's production never loses its sparkle, and it's a must-see for a fun festive season kick-off 🎉

omg u guys i just watched this super funny panto at norwich theatre royal 🤣🎭 cinderella was literally so much fun with aida from tiktok as the ugly sister lol and they did this hilarious sketch where joe tracini's character falls off a rope lolol and i died. anyway, the show is defo worth watching esp since it feels like a super chill winter night out 🌅🍻 but also kinda disappointed that cindy's love interest was kinda meh. anywaaa got my tickets for the next show can't wait! 😂

I loved the sun-kissed twist on Cinderella, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the romance between Cindy and Prince Buttons 🤔. It felt like an afterthought to me. However, Owen Evans and Kenny Moore as those wicked sisters were absolute perfection - they stole the show! 😂 The comedic set pieces had me giggling too, especially that "air friar" routine was a masterclass in silly 😂. The cast's energy is infectious, but I think they could've made the plot more engaging. Still, it's a great way to kick off the festive season and I'd totally recommend it for families or anyone looking for a lighthearted panto experience 🎩.

OMG, I just watched this pantomime adaptation of Cinderella 🤣🌴 and I'm still grinning from ear to ear! The whole cast is so talented and funny, especially those wicked sisters Lou & Lav 😂💁‍♀️. But, gotta say, the plot can get a bit muddy at times... it's like trying to drink from a fountain with too many spouty arms 🤯. Still, the show's energy is SO infectious! 👏 And that "air friar" routine? Hilarious 😂👍. If you're looking for a fun way to kick off the festive season, this Cinderella panto is THE ticket! ⭐

🎭 I just watched this hilarious panto performance and OMG, Owen Evans & Kenny Moore as the wicked sisters Lou & Lav are totally stealing the show 🤣 their energy is so infectious, I was literally giggling in my seat 🤪. And let's be real, who wouldn't want to see a guy dangling from a rope while dodging schoolkids? 😂🎉 But what really made me smile is how the whole production just exudes festive spirit - it's like stepping into a sun-kissed beachside town for the holidays 🌴. The cast is talented, the jokes are cheesy but lovable (in a bad way), and the show never loses its sparkle 💫. If you're looking for a fun way to kick off the holiday season, Cinderella at Norwich Theatre Royal is a must-see! 👏

omg u guys i just saw this panto with my fam and OMG the costumes were SO extra lol i mean who wears pastel pink to a pantomime? 🤣 but for real the lead actress was so sweet as cinderella and those wicked sisters were EVERYTHING 👯‍♀️👺 we're talking over-the-top energy, literally had us laughing in the aisles 😂 and omg the set piece where they just had a rope hanging from the ceiling while they did this air friar routine? 😲 genius or what? 🤩

I just watched this super funny pantomime adaptation of Cinderella 🤣👠 and I gotta say, it's so refreshing to see a classic story given a modern twist with a sun-kissed vibe ☀️. The cast is amazing, especially the two wicked sisters Lou & Lav - they totally steal the show! 😂 The choreography is playful, the costumes are colorful (if a bit impractical lol), and the jokes are just right - not too cheesy but still guaranteed to make you giggle. What I love most about this production is its enthusiasm, it's really infectious and makes you feel like you're part of a fun party 🎉!

omg did u hear they found a huge ocean garbage patch in the pacific 😩🌊 like literally thousands of tons of trash just floating there. and its not just plastic bags and bottles, its full of old electronics and even cars 🚗💣. hows that for a festive treat

Wow 😂 I loved how they incorporated the seaside setting into the classic Cinderella story. It's so refreshing to see a panto adaptation with a twist 🌞 The cast sounds like they're having an absolute blast, and that's infectious! Interesting how they balanced the lighthearted humor with some more meaningful moments for Cinderella...

omg I loved this production!! 🤩 the whole cast was so energetic and had me laughing out loud 😂 especially Owen & Kenny as those wicked sisters, they were absolutely hilarious 💀 aimee leigh's choreo was on point too 👏 but yeah maybe cinderella's romance felt a bit rushed idk if i'd seen it tho - did anyone else notice the air friar routine tho?! 🤣😂

OMG, I loved this panto!!! 🤩 The costumes are so adorbs 😍 I was dying laughing when those girls were being super mean to each other 💁‍♀️ Owen and Kenny as the wicked sisters though? 😂👯‍♀️ they stole the whole show! I felt bad for Cinderella's romance with Prince Buttons tho 🤔 maybe make it more developed next time? anyway, the "air friar" routine had me giggling so hard 💨 can't wait to see what else Andrew Lynford has up his sleeve 👀

omg i just saw this panto review 🎭 and i'm DYING OVER THE COSTUMES!!! designer kirsteen wythe's pastel-colored outfits are giving me LIFE 💖🌸. but seriously, it sounds like the cast is on point, esp those wicked sisters 😂. georgia may foote as cinderella sounds cute, tho maybe a lil too boring 🤔. and that "air friar" routine sounds HILARIOUS 🤣 can't wait to see it live!

I went to see this Cinderella show last week and I gotta say, it's such a feel-good production 🌞. The whole cast is so charming, especially Owen Evans and Kenny Moore as the wicked sisters - they're literally stealing the show 😂. But honestly, the lead actress Georgia May Foote can't quite carry the whole thing, feels kinda bland at times. Still, the energy of the cast and the set pieces had me laughing out loud, even when it got a bit cheesy 🤣. The only downside is that it's not as tightly written as I'd like, but overall, it's a great way to get into the holiday spirit 💖.

just saw this one 🎭👀 they did an awesome job with cinderella, i love how they added that sun-kissed twist! but omg that air friar routine is LMAO 💥😂 georgia may foote as cindy was super cute and aimee leigh's choreo was so fun to watch 👯‍♀️🕺

I'm not sure if I'd call this production "the perfect antidote" to a chilly winter's night... I mean, it does sound like it would be pretty fun and light-hearted, but the writing is pretty cheesy too 😊. Like, who thought an "air friar" routine was a good idea? But in all seriousness, it sounds like they did a great job of bringing out the festive spirit and having fun with the panto classic. Georgia May Foote seems like a nice fit for Cinderella, and those wicked sisters Lou and Lav sound like a real scene-stealing duo 👯‍♀️.

I'm kinda meh about this Cinderella adaptation 🤔... I mean, it's got all the right ingredients for a good panto - funny, lighthearted, and full of festive cheer... but at the same time, I think it's trying way too hard to be cheeky and slapstick 😂. The comedy bits are all just so on the nose, you know? And don't even get me started on the costumes 🤷‍♀️ - they're super pretty, but also kinda impractical for a show about people running around in the dark. And I love Georgia May Foote as Cinderella, but sometimes she comes across as a bit too perfect 😒... but then there's Owen Evans and Kenny Moore as the wicked sisters, and they totally steal the show 🤣! The production's just so... enthusiastic, you know? It's like it's trying to make up for some lack of depth in the storytelling. Anyway, if you're a panto fan, I reckon you'll love it 😊.

OMG u guys I just saw this panto Cinderella show 🤩 and I'm DYING it's like so much fun!! they did such a great job with the costumes and choreo, Aimee Leigh's moves are literally the best 😆. Georgia May Foote as Cindy is alright but her love interest with Prince Buttons feels kinda meh idk... BUT Owen & Kenny as the wicked sisters are EVERYTHING 🤣 their energy is infectious and I was giggling so hard my sides hurt 💀

the comedy bits are just LOL what's up w/ this air friar sketch tho? 🤯 it's like they took a page from our school's talent show 🎭. anyway the cast is super talented and the production has that festive spirit down pat ❤️ 4 days left in Norwich, defo go see it!!! 👍
