Could Zohran Mamdani fire landlord-friendly members of NYC rent board if elected mayor?

I'm getting really concerned about this whole rent freeze thing 🤔. I mean, it sounds great on paper, but the way Zohran Mamdani is pushing for it is giving me major pause 😬. If he's serious about making good on his promise, he's gonna have to take some big steps - like, potentially firing members of the Rent Guidelines Board 🚫.

Now, I get that landlords are up in arms about this, and honestly, who can blame them? A rent freeze could lead to some major financial headaches for building owners 🏢. But at the same time, the whole idea of tenants being able to afford their apartments is a major issue 😊.

The thing that's got me worried is the lack of clarity around what this all means in practice 🤷‍♀️. I mean, how would Mamdani even go about removing existing board members? And what about the whole "for cause" thing - it sounds like we're back to square one 🔄.

I'm not saying I don't get the need for rent reform, but this feels like a big risk 🌪️. If Mamdani is gonna make good on his promise, he's gotta be ready for some serious pushback 💪.

I'm low-key worried about Zohran Mamdani's plan to freeze rent in NYC 🤔. I mean, it sounds great on paper, but think about all the landlords who rely on those rents to make ends meet. If he has to fire some of the current Rent Guidelines Board members, it could get pretty messy and lead to a whole lot of legal issues 😬. And what's even scarier is that we don't really know how this would play out in practice. Would the new board members just be rubber-stamping the same rents? Or would they actually try to find ways to make rent more affordable for everyone? 🤞 One thing's for sure, though - whoever becomes mayor has got some 'splainin' to do when it comes to housing reform 💸
