It Sure Sounds Like 'Star Trek 4' Is Dead (Again)

Paramount's New Leadership Spells Doom for Star Trek 4 Reboot

A decade after the last big-screen outing for the rebooted Star Trek cast in 2016, it appears that the decision to revive the franchise has been made. The news comes as Paramount, now under new leadership, has seemingly abandoned plans to bring back Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and the rest of the ensemble from J.J. Abrams' reboot.

According to a report by Variety, the studio is now focused on developing a fresh Star Trek movie with a new cast. While it's unclear if the long-speculated "origins of Starfleet" film, which was attached to director Toby Haynes and scriptwriters Seth Grahame-Smith and Simon Kinberg, will ultimately come to fruition, it seems likely that such a project would be more feasible without the involvement of Abrams' original cast.

The decision not to revive the current cast may be seen as a necessary evil after two sequels that underperformed at the box office. However, for fans of the franchise who grew attached to the Pine and Quinto-led cast, it's a sad day. Their adventures still feel incomplete, leaving room for possibilities in the future.

One can't help but wonder if Paramount is ready for a fully new recast Enterprise crew or if they'll opt for something completely unconventional. Whatever the case may be, one thing is certain – multiple timelines and realities mean that anything can happen in the Star Trek universe, even if it's not happening right now.

ugh i'm so down about this news πŸ€• Paramount's new leadership is really gonna mess up star trek 4, imo. i love pine and quinto as trevor and kirk, they're my faves! a fresh start might be needed after the box office bombs but can't help feelin that the current cast was just gettin' warmed up πŸš€

Ugh πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ, I'm really disappointed to hear that the new Paramount leadership has dropped plans for a reboot with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto πŸ˜”. I know the last two movies didn't do great at the box office, but come on, can't they just try something different? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I mean, I get it, multiple timelines and realities in Star Trek can be pretty mind-blowing 🀯, but it's still hard to imagine anyone else playing those iconic roles 😊. It feels like we're about to lose a part of the franchise's history and charm πŸ“š.

One thing that would've been cool is if they had brought back J.J. Abrams himself πŸ‘. He's a huge fan of the original series, and I'm pretty sure he would've made it happen πŸ’«. Now it feels like we're just left with... nothing πŸ˜”. Fingers crossed that Paramount changes their mind 🀞!

lol what's up with Paramount wanting to reboot & forget about the Pine/Quinto crew? I get it, box office numbers might've been a bit meh but come on guys, you know who they are! The fans loved 'em and would still show up for another flick if done right. Maybe this new direction is actually a breath of fresh air, could be interesting to see some new blood take the helm πŸ€”πŸ’₯

ugh I'm so sad about this news πŸ€•πŸš€πŸ‘½! I've been waiting for years to see what would happen with the current cast, especially Pine & Quinto 🀝! They had such great chemistry on screen, it was like they were part of the fam πŸ‘ͺ. Now it seems like everything is getting rebooted (literally) πŸ’₯, and I don't know if I can get on board with a new crew πŸ€”. Still, gotta respect Paramount's decision to shake things up #StarTrekReboot #NewLeadershipMeansNewDirection #FanFrustrations

omg u guys i'm so disappointed about this... i loved the original cast like who wouldn't wanna see pine & quinto back as kirk & spock? seems like they're just giving up on the franchise after 2 movies that didn't do well at the box office πŸ€” idk what's going on with paramount but can't they try to make it work w/ the original cast instead of starting from scratch? πŸ˜’

I think this is a major bummer for fans of the rebooted cast πŸ€•. I mean, we've invested so much time and emotions into their adventures, and to just have them seemingly forgotten is kinda sad. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto were perfect as Kirk and Spock, in my opinion 😊. They brought this iconic duo to life in a way that still feels fresh even after 4 years apart.

The thing is, the Star Trek universe is all about exploration and possibilities πŸš€. You'd think they'd want to ride that wave by reviving the original cast instead of starting from scratch. I mean, what's wrong with taking risks? It's a franchise that thrives on change and new ideas πŸ€”.

But at the same time, I get why Paramount wants to shake things up πŸ”₯. Those last two movies didn't exactly set the box office ablaze, so maybe it's better to try something new πŸŽ₯. Still, it's hard not to wonder what could've been with our beloved cast πŸ‘½. Maybe they'll surprise us and bring them back in a future movie? A guy can dream, right 😊!

idk man... i'm so down for a new star trek movie with a fresh cast πŸ€” but at the same time, i'm super attached to the pine & quinto crew and it feels like they were just getting into the groove in 2016 πŸ˜• they had some awesome movies, even if the box office didn't quite live up to expectations... anywayz, it's star trek we're talkin' about, so yeah, let's keep an open mind πŸš€ and see what paramount comes up with. maybe a new cast will bring some fresh energy to the franchise? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ or who knows, maybe they'll just mess it up... either wayz, it's gonna be lit πŸ”₯

I'm so bummed to hear about this πŸ€• Paramount's new leadership really dropped the ball on a franchise with such a rich history. I've been waiting for a proper sequel to Into Darkness since 2016 and now they're just gonna toss out Chris Pine & Zachary Quinto like yesterday's trash? πŸ˜’ The "origins of Starfleet" film was actually sounding kinda cool, but I guess that's just more fuel for the fire. Multiple timelines can be awesome, but it's all about execution, you know? What's next, are they gonna reboot the entire franchise again or what? 🀯

πŸ€” u no wut dis means... Paramount thinks dey can just swap out da whole cast like its nobodies business 🚫 they're chasin dat "origins of Starfleet" film tho, hope it doesn't suck πŸ’Έ like da last 2 movies did idk if dey'll go for a fresh recast or try somethin diff, but one tingz 4 shure - Star Trek has got so many timelines n realities now πŸ•°οΈ wut's gonna happen next? πŸ€“

πŸ€” I don't get why Paramount has to go and change everything all of a sudden... like they're trying to reinvent the wheel or something πŸ”„. Can't they just stick with what works? The original cast was still pretty popular, so yeah, it would've been awesome to see them back on screen together again βš”οΈ. Now, I'm not saying that a new cast can't work out, but come on... let's be real, folks are gonna feel kinda left out 😐. Maybe they could've done a spin-off or something? 🀝

πŸ€” I'm kinda bummed about this news tbh... who didn't want to see another adventure with Kirk and Spock back on the big screen? πŸ˜” But at the same time, I get why Paramount would wanna shake things up - 2 box office flops ain't exactly a recipe for success. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Still, can you imagine anyone else playing those iconic roles? πŸ‘€ Like, I know some people love Chris Evans as Captain America, but no one's gonna replace Pine and Quinto... not in my book 😎. And what about the franchise as a whole? Is it time for a reboot (no pun intended) or do they just keep going with new cast? πŸ€” Too early to say, imo.

Ugh, I'm gonna miss those Pine & Quinto guys πŸ˜”. I get that they didn't exactly set the box office on fire but still, their take was pretty decent. A fresh start is probably needed tho... maybe this new direction could lead to something cool πŸ€”. The "origins of Starfleet" film sounds intriguing - hopefully it'll be done justice 🎬. Too bad we won't get more adventures with the original crew πŸš€, but you're right, multiple timelines means there's always hope for more Trek goodness out there πŸ’«

oh man i'm really gonna miss pine and quinto as captain kirk & mr spock they just didn't feel the same after the first 2 movies πŸš€πŸ’” Paramount is kinda leaving some fans hanging here but on the bright side we could get to see some new cast members in those iconic roles idk if they'll go with a full new crew or like a reboot within a reboot? 🀯 either way, star trek has always been about exploring new possibilities and timelines so i guess we'll just have to wait and see what they come up with next πŸ•°οΈ

ugh I'm so disappointed about this πŸ€• Paramount thinks they can just start fresh with a new cast and make us forget about Pine and Quinto's crew? like, what about the emotional investment we made with those characters over the years? I know the box office numbers aren't great but still, it feels like they're giving up on something that could've been special.

And don't even get me started on the whole "multiple timelines and realities" thing 🀯 I mean, can't they just stick to one timeline for once? It's all over the place. I'm just hoping they know what they're doing with this new movie or it'll be a total disaster πŸ˜‚

Ugh man I'm defo gonna miss pine & quinto on screen its like they got this whole franchise vibe down πŸ€–πŸ’”. New leadership at Paramount just means less quality control in my opinion lol what's next star trek 4 is gonna be a total reboot without even trying to tie it back to the previous films? πŸ™„ i'm all for change but c'mon can't they just keep it true to form? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ€” I feel so underwhelmed by this decision... The new leadership at Paramount seems to be all about shaking things up & trying to recreate success without any of the original cast. Like, what happened to Chris Pine & Zachary Quinto? They had great chemistry with each other! πŸš€

I'm kinda excited for a fresh start tho, but I don't know if it's a good idea to abandon all connections to J.J. Abrams' reboot. The fandom is still strong, and fans like me are still holding on to memories of Pine & Quinto's characters... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

It's also weird that they're not considering the "origins of Starfleet" film anymore... Wasn't that gonna be an epic addition to the franchise? Guess we'll just have to wait & see what Paramount comes up with next πŸš€

ugh this is so disappointing πŸ˜” i've been waiting for years to see what happens with the original crew's storylines and it sounds like we're just gonna be stuck with a whole new cast from scratch 🀯 i mean i get it, box office numbers aren't great, but can't they find a way to make it work? maybe a prequel or something? πŸ€” idk what's the point of revisiting the franchise if we're just gonna change everything up entirely... i'm kinda hopeful that the "origins of Starfleet" thing might still happen though, would be so cool to see the beginnings of star trek in live action πŸš€

man I'm so bummed about this news πŸ€• Paramount's new leadership is really going to mess with our chances of seeing Star Trek 4 happen with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto again πŸ˜” it feels like they're starting from scratch which is kinda disappointing for fans like me who loved the cast they had. I mean I get it, two movies didn't exactly set the box office ablaze but still... I'm kinda hoping we'll see more of the old crew in some form or another, idk what's gonna happen with the "origins of Starfleet" project tho πŸ€” could be cool to see a new cast take on the franchise tho.

I'm so bummed to hear that Paramount has decided to reboot Star Trek with a new cast πŸ€•πŸš€. I know things didn't do well for the previous movies at the box office, but I still feel like the current cast is awesome! Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto as Captain Kirk and Spock are just so iconic πŸ™Œ. A new cast would be a huge change, and I'm worried that it might lose the magic of the original reboot πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ.

I guess only time will tell what's gonna happen next, but I hope they stick with some of the ideas from the "origins of Starfleet" film πŸ’‘. That one sounded like an amazing story to me!
