Jets acquire corner Ja’Sir Taylor in trade with Chargers to complete busy deadline day

The New York Jets have pulled off one more trade in a busy deadline day that has seen significant roster shake-ups. The acquisition of cornerback Ja'Sir Taylor from the Los Angeles Chargers marks the Jets' latest move, with the team sending a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2028 draft to secure the talented defensive back.

A 26-year-old product of Wake Forest University, Taylor has spent his entire four-year NFL career with the Chargers. Over that time, he has accumulated one interception and 84 tackles. However, this season, the relatively low-usage cornerback has seen just eight tackles in nine games, playing only 3% of the team's defensive snaps - a far cry from the 49% he was used to playing last year.

The move comes hot on the heels of the Jets' blockbuster deal that sent two-time All-Pro corner Sauce Gardner to the Colts. In that trade, the Jets received two first-round picks and receiver Adonai Mitchell in return. The subsequent trade for Taylor follows a similar pattern, with the Jets trading away defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys for a 2027 first-rounder, a 2026 second-rounder, and defensive lineman Mazi Smith.

As the NFL deadline day continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how these trades will impact the Jets' chances of success this season. With Taylor joining Gardner at cornerback, the team's secondary has now been bolstered with significant talent. Whether this trade ultimately proves to be a winning move for the Jets remains to be seen.

man I cant help but think about how player movement affects communities they play for its like one day you got a superstar in Quinnen Williams and next thing you know he's gone 🤔. the jets are trying to build something from scratch but you gotta wonder what's going on behind the scenes of these trades are they even benefiting the city?

OMG, I'm so hyped about the Jets' trades today 🤩! They're really trying to revamp their roster and it looks like they're making some big moves 💪. I love how they're going all in on this season - two blockbuster deals already and they're not done yet 😲. Ja'Sir Taylor is such a talented corner back, his stats aren't super impressive but from what I've seen of him he's got game 📺. And let's be real, having Sauce Gardner on the team is a huge win - that guy is a total baller 🏈! Can't wait to see how these trades play out and if they'll lead to some serious wins for the Jets 💫

🤯 OMG have you seen the Jets trades today?! I'm literally hyped out!! They got Ja'Sir Taylor and now Sauce Gardner is gone 🚫😱 I mean, those two are gonna shut down opposing WRs like nobody's business. Quinnen Williams might've been a solid trade though, I guess we'll see how that one plays out... but the cornerback duo is straight fire 🔥💨 Can't wait to watch them play together!

Ugh I'm literally so confused about the JETS right now 🤯😩 they're just like "oh yeah we traded Quinnen Williams but we got some cool draft picks" 🤑📈 no one knows what's going on! First they trade Sauce Gardner and now they're adding Ja'Sir Taylor... it's all just so frustrating 😤 I mean, don't get me wrong Taylor is a talented player and all, but why do the Jets keep making these crazy trades?! Can't they just stick to a solid game plan for once?! 🙄 And what's up with the draft picks, like two first-rounders and stuff... is that really enough to make up for trading away one of their best players? 🤔 I'm literally on the edge of my seat waiting for some clarification 😅

I don't get why they're making so many trades. It feels like they're trying to change their whole team on the fly. Sauce Gardner was a great player, I guess he's good enough that another team wants him 🤔. But what's with all these draft picks? Are they really going to make better players than the guys they're getting now? And Ja'Sir Taylor is just sitting there collecting dust half the time... I mean, 3% of snaps? What happened to him?

man I'm kinda mixed on this one 🤔...the jets are getting a solid corner in Ja'Sir Taylor but it feels like they're still rebuilding after that big trade of Sauce Gardner 🚨. like, what's the plan here? are they gonna use Taylor to help Gardner out or is he just meant to be a backup? 💬

I'm not loving the Jets' recent moves 🤔. I mean, they just gave up on Quinnen Williams like that? Dude was a cornerstone of their defense, and now they're basically waving goodbye to him in exchange for some decent draft picks. Don't get me wrong, Ja'Sir Taylor is talented, but come on, 3% playing time last season? That's not what you want from a corner back, especially when they've got Sauce Gardner now. This trade just feels like more of the same - trading away their best players for scraps 📦. I'm worried about how this will impact their defense overall...

omg, i'm still trying to wrap my head around the NFL trade deadline 🤯💥 so many big moves happening like sauce gardner just got traded away 😱 and now they're adding ja'sir taylor to their corner crew that's a bold move on their part 💪 but you never know how it'll play out in the long run...i mean, quinnen williams was a key piece for them last season 🤔 and now he's gone what about adonai mitchell too? 🤷‍♂️ i guess time will tell if these trades pay off for the jets this year 🏈

I'm not sure what's going on with these trades in the NFL 🤔. They're basically moving pieces around to try and get better, but it feels like they're giving up some big names (Quinnen Williams) for smaller picks that might not even pay off by the time the players are ready to contribute. I mean, Sauce Gardner is a two-time All-Pro, what's another first-round pick gonna do? The Jets think Ja'Sir Taylor can fill in as their CB and make a difference now? It's gonna be interesting to see how this all plays out 👀

I gotta say, I'm loving what the Jets are doing this offseason 🤩💪! They're really building that defense and getting some top-notch talent in. I mean, Ja'Sir Taylor is an amazing player, he's got so much potential 🌟. And with Sauce Gardner on board too, their secondary just got a huge boost 💥. The moves they're making are definitely paying off, and I'm curious to see how it all plays out this season 😃.

I gotta say, I'm not entirely convinced about this one... 😐 The Jets are making some big moves, but it feels like they're just trying to fix last season's holes instead of building towards something sustainable. I mean, Sauce Gardner is a game-changer, and now Ja'Sir Taylor joins him at corner? That's a solid upgrade. But what about the rest of the secondary? Are they gonna be able to keep up with the opponents' top receivers? And what happened to Quinnen Williams? They traded him away for a bunch of draft picks... 🤔

OMG, I'm actually kinda stoked about the Jets making some big moves 🤯! It's crazy how much their roster is shifting in just one day 💥. They've got Sauce Gardner on board and now Ja'Sir Taylor, which is a huge pickup for them at corner 🌟. The question is, will this be enough to turn their season around? 🤔 I mean, they're still gonna need to figure out how to get more snaps to both of those corners 😂. But for real though, it's exciting to see the Jets making some big moves like this 👊!
