‘Landman’ Season 2 Rotten Tomatoes Reviews: Does Billy Bob Thornton Series Continue To Strike It Rich?

Billy Bob Thornton's 'Landman' Continues to Divide Critics with Season 2, But Still Strikes Gold at 78%

Taylor Sheridan's gritty Western drama 'Landman', starring Billy Bob Thornton as a roughneck oilman, returns for its second season this Sunday on Paramount+. The new season has received an impressive 78% "fresh" score from Rotten Tomatoes critics based on nine reviews, with many praising the show's improvement over its first season.

Critics are generally divided in their assessment of 'Landman' Season 2. J. Kelly Nestruck of the Globe and Mail praises the show, saying that it has improved upon its shortcomings in the supporting female characters. Tim Glanfield of The Times (U.K.) agrees, noting that the return of 'Landman' offers a fresh perspective on American life.

On the other hand, Clint Worthington of RogerEbert.com gave Season 2 of 'Landman' a "rotten" rating, citing its struggles to find new reserves and veering off in some unconventional directions. Katie Doll of CBR also gave the season a lowly "rotten" review, stating that fans who respect women and enjoy business-based dramas without background knowledge of the industry should steer clear of the testosterone-fueled series.

Despite these mixed reviews, 'Landman' Season 2 has managed to strike gold once again, at least in terms of critical reception. The show's first season earned a similar 78% "fresh" score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 65% Popcornmeter rating based on user reviews.

It remains to be seen whether the show will continue to build momentum with its second season, but one thing is clear: Billy Bob Thornton's grizzled portrayal of Tommy Norris continues to deliver some compelling drama. If you're looking for a gritty Western that explores the darker side of human nature, 'Landman' might just be worth checking out.

"thinks this show is still pretty cool even if critics are divided on it lol. i mean, billy bob thornton's performance is on point as always 🤠👍. but omg some ppl r really harshing the mellow with their negative reviews 🙄. cant we just enjoy a good western without having to nitpick every little thing? 😉 also gotta say, taylor sheridan's writing is getting better with each season 📚👏"

I love how Billy Bob Thornton's character in Landman is just soooo gruff and rugged 🤠💪! It's like he's got some real grit and determination going on. And I gotta say, 78% on Rotten Tomatoes is pretty impressive for a second season. But at the same time, it's interesting to see how critics are still divided on it... 😐 I mean, what do they want from it? More romance? Less testosterone-fueled drama? 🤷‍♀️ It's like, if you're gonna make a show about oilmen and roughnecks, just own it! Don't try to fit into every genre. Give me more of that gritty realism any day 💥.

I'm low-key hyped for this new season of Landman 🤘. I mean, Billy Bob Thornton's performance is insane 🔥. I loved how the show got better with the second season, it's like they finally figured out what was missing 😅. I don't get why some critics are trash-talking the female characters though, come on guys 🙄. The ones that gave it a rotten review clearly didn't catch the vibe of the show. But for me, Tommy Norris is my spirit animal 🤠. I love how gritty and real it is, like nothing else out there right now 💯. Paramount+ needs to give us more episodes ASAP! ⏰

idk why critics are still divided about this show 🤔... season 2 is so much better than the first one and i think billy bob thornton's character is what saves it 😂, but at the same time some reviews kinda make sense? like if you're not into women-led dramas or shows with industry background, then yeah maybe 'landman' isn't for you 🤷‍♀️. but honestly, i'm loving how gritty and realistic it gets - those westerns can be so rough around the edges 💥.

🤔 I'm so confused about this show lol... one day it gets all these good reviews and the next critics are like "meh" 🤷‍♂️. But at the same time, Billy Bob Thornton is straight fire as Tommy Norris! 💥 I think what's happening is that some people are getting more into the story now that they know a bit about the industry it's based on, and that's making a big difference for them 📚. But others just don't care about all that stuff and are like "it's too rough for me" 😒. I kinda get why those people would say that though... the show is pretty intense 🤯. Still gonna give it a watch tho, Tommy Norris vibes 💁‍♂️

I gotta say, I'm low-key surprised by the mixed reviews on Landman Season 2 🤔. On one hand, I love Billy Bob Thornton's character - he brings such grit and intensity to the show! But at the same time, I can see why some people would think it veers off in weird directions (don't even get me started on that testosterone thing 🙄). For me, though, the show is all about the storytelling, and if it's got you hooked like it has me, then more power to it 💪. Still, gotta respect the critics who aren't afraid to call out some of its flaws - we need more diverse perspectives in Western dramas, y'know? 👍

I only just saw this thread and I gotta say, I'm kinda surprised by the mixed reviews for Season 2. Like, I get it, not everyone's gonna love it and some people are gonna think it's too weird or whatever. But 78% on Rotten Tomatoes? That's still pretty high if you ask me. Billy Bob Thornton is a total pro, he can make even the most mundane roles interesting. And I think what's cool about 'Landman' is that it's not afraid to tackle some heavy themes, like the struggle of working-class people and the darker side of human nature. So yeah, if you're in the mood for something gritty and intense, I'd definitely recommend checking it out. 🤔

I'm intrigued by the polarized reception of 'Landman' Season 2 🤔... it seems like critics are torn between appreciating the show's grittiness and criticism over its narrative choices 😐... while some have praised the improvement in supporting female characters, others have found it lacking or even problematic 👎... ultimately, I think the show's ability to evoke strong emotions and spark discussions is what sets it apart from more conventional Westerns 📺... and Billy Bob Thornton's portrayal of Tommy Norris is indeed compelling - he brings a level of depth to the character that makes you care about his struggles 💡... will 'Landman' continue to resonate with audiences? Only time (and future seasons) will tell 🤞

I gotta say, I'm loving the drama and grit in Landman 🤠💥! Billy Bob Thornton's performance as Tommy Norris is like no other - so raw and real 💯. The way it tackles the oil industry and the struggles of its characters is just so compelling 🤔. Don't get me wrong, some people might find it a bit too rough around the edges 😬, but I think that's part of its charm. Taylor Sheridan's direction is masterful, and the cast delivers 💥. Can't wait to see how the show continues to evolve and keep us hooked!

just watched the trailer for landman season 2 and im still torn about whether ill keep watching or not lol think billy bob thornton is pretty intense as tommy norris btw dont know what to make of taylor sheridans direction tho, some ppl love it and some ppl hate it idk if its too weird or if thats just the point? anyway gotta give credit to paramount+ for keeping this show on the air who else is watching landman season 2? 😊

im not surprised critics are still divided about landman season 2 🤔👀 i mean, billy bob thornton's performance as tommy norris is already on point, but taylor sheridan's script can sometimes feel a bit too dark and heavy-handed for my taste 😐. on the other hand, it's awesome to see some critics praising the show's improvement in supporting female characters 💁‍♀️👏. overall, i'd say landman season 2 is still worth watching if you're into gritty westerns, but maybe skip it if you're easily turned off by too much testosterone 🤠💪.

omg I love how Billy Bob Thornton just nails this role as Tommy Norris 🤠💪 he's like totally bringing this character to life in such a raw and real way! but for real though, critics are all over the place with season 2 - some think it's improved, others think it's gone off the rails 🤔👀 what's up? is it just me or does anyone else feel like there's gonna be a third season already? 💥 I'd totally tune in to see more of Tommy Norris' gritty adventures!

OMG 🤔, I'm still trying to figure out why critics are so divided about this show 🤷‍♀️. On one hand, Billy Bob Thornton is like a total rockstar as Tommy Norris, and his character's storyline is super compelling 💥. But on the other hand, some of the supporting characters just feel like they're not getting enough development or attention 👀.

I'm also kinda confused about why people are saying that fans who don't know much about the oil industry should avoid this show 🤔. Like, isn't it supposed to be educational and stuff? And what's with all these "rotten" reviews from critics? 🙄 Can't they just see past some minor flaws and enjoy the drama? 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, I guess that's just how it goes sometimes when a show is trying to tackle tough subjects like this 🤔. But hey, if you're into gritty Westerns with complex characters, 'Landman' might be right up your alley 🎥!

Ugh 🤕, another season of 'Landman' is coming out and I'm still trying to wrap my head around how roughneck Billy Bob Thornton's character can be so likable 😒. Like, what's next? A show about a toxic masculinity advocate winning a Nobel Prize in Physics?! 🤯 And don't even get me started on the women in this show... again 🙄. I mean, I guess if you're into that sorta thing, go ahead and watch it. But honestly, can we just move on to something else? This drama is giving me anxiety 😬.

ugh, 78% on Rotten Tomatoes is kinda misleading 🤔. i mean, yes its getting better than season 1 but its still not perfect. and that whole 'rotten' rating thing from rogerebert... like what even is that? a score out of 5 or something? and the critics who gave it low marks just don't get it 😒. newsflash: westerns are all about testosterone & patriarchy, so like, dont expect some strong female characters to show up and change everything overnight 🤷‍♂️. still, billy bob thornton is pretty compelling as ever 👊

omg i can tell how passionate critics are about landman season 2 🤯 some love it and others hate it but at the end of the day billy bob thornton's performance is still on point 💯 his character tommy norris is so complex and intriguing 😬 and yeah the show does tackle some heavy themes that'll make you feel all the feels ❤️ i'm not surprised they're divided though, it's like watching a intense western movie 🤠 where people either love or hate the gritty realism

I'm not sure what's more fascinating - the show itself or how our perceptions of it change depending on who reviews it 🤔. I mean, some critics praise its improvement in supporting female characters, while others think it veers off in unconventional directions 🌐. It makes me wonder if we're looking at this show through different lenses, like multiple mirrors reflecting the same image but with varying levels of clarity 💡. Perhaps that's what makes 'Landman' Season 2 so captivating - its ability to challenge our expectations and force us to question our own biases 👀. But ultimately, does it matter if some critics hate it or love it? Is it still worth watching because of the conversations it sparks? 🤔

idk how i feel about this show, season 2 is def better than the first but its still super divisive i mean one day ur watching it and the next u r so over it lol also i love billy bob thornton as a roughneck oilman tho 🤠👊 i think what bothers me is that the critics are always gonna say something bad about it cuz its a show that explores some heavy stuff but like, thats what makes it worth watching, right? and from what im seeing so far, its definitely a wild ride 🎢
