New Taco Bar in Grosse Pointe Woods to Bring Flavor and Community Together
A vibrant new dining destination is about to open its doors in Grosse Pointe Woods, welcoming foodies with a colorful array of tacos, burritos, and bowls. Lola's Taco Bar, led by Grosse Pointe native Branden McRill and chef Brandon Zarb, promises an unforgettable experience that combines big flavors, warm hospitality, and giving back to the community.
Located in a former Boston Market store at 20195 Mack Ave., the restaurant boasts a modern space adorned with a custom mural by Detroit artist Ivan Montoya. The menu is designed to wow and amaze patrons with house-made salsas and margaritas on draft, carefully crafted tacos, and innovative vegan and healthy options.
"We want to wow and amaze people with food that's thoughtful, vibrant, and accessible all at once," said McRill. "The taco is the perfect vehicle for delivering big flavors to a wide audience."
Zarb echoed his sentiments, emphasizing the importance of respecting traditions while incorporating modern techniques. "We're being careful about respecting traditions while applying some culinary techniques to the freshest products available."
One of the unique features of Lola's Taco Bar is its commitment to giving back to the community. A rotating "Good Taco" menu item will support local schools and nonprofits, with Detroit's Rising Stars Academy set to be the first benefactor. The restaurant plans to hire Rising Stars Academy workers for prep work, providing a tangible way to show up for the community.
The space will employ around 25 workers, and the team includes hospitality operator Mel Fuechtmann and growth strategist Niko Moschouris. With its patio set to open in the spring, Lola's Taco Bar promises to become a beloved gathering spot in Grosse Pointe Woods, where friends and family can come together to enjoy delicious food, great drinks, and warm hospitality.
As McRill stated, "Lola's is meant to be a place you come back to again and again." Mark your calendars for the grand opening and get ready to experience the flavors of Lola's Taco Bar.
