the thing is, i feel for these people who are scared to celebrate their own holidays because of some raids that might or might not happen... it's like, they're just trying to live their lives, you know? and then you got all these families with young kids trick-or-treating, but instead of excitement, there's this nervous energy in the air... i don't think anyone wants ICE around, that's for sure. it's like, can't we just coexist without all this drama?
I don’t usually comment but... it’s really sad to see how Halloween is getting affected by fear of immigration raids . Chicago is such a diverse city and this holiday is supposed to be all about fun and celebration, not anxiety . I can imagine how hard it must be for families with young children to feel like they can’t even trick-or-treat in their own neighborhoods without worrying about ICE showing up . It’s like the fear of deportation has turned a happy day into a somber one . Can’t we all just focus on being kind and welcoming to everyone, regardless of where they come from ?
ICE is being super annoying . Why can't they just chill during Halloween? It's all about the vibes, you know? Families are trying to celebrate and have fun with their little ones, but ICE is like a buzzkill . I get it, their raids are scary, but can't we find a way to make these communities feel safe and included? Not everyone wants to be constantly worried about being deported or whatnot. Can't they just give us some space to enjoy our holidays in peace?
I FEEL SO BAD FOR THESE PEOPLE!!! THEY'RE TRYING TO CELEBRATE A TIME-HONORED TRADITION LIKE DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS WITHOUT THE FEAR OF BEING RAISED IN PUBLIC . IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT ICE RAIDS, IT'S ABOUT FEELING VULNERABLE AND SCARED FOR THEIR FAMILIES' FUTURE . WE NEED TO CREATE A SAFE SPACE FOR PEOPLE FROM ALL BACKGROUNDS TO CELEBRATE WITHOUT FEAR OF REPERCUSSIONS . CHICAGO IS SUPPOSED TO BE A CITY THAT WELCOMES EVERYONE WITH OPEN ARMS, BUT RIGHT NOW IT FEELS LIKE THEY'RE LIVING IN TERRITORY OF FEAR .
