Police arrest Massachusetts woman in Macy’s Herald Square stabbing for attempted murder

A Boston woman has been taken into custody after allegedly stabbing another woman multiple times at the iconic Macy's Herald Square store in Midtown Manhattan. Kerri Aherne, 43, was charged with attempted murder for the attack that left her victim, a 39-year-old woman, injured but stable after being rushed to Bellevue Hospital.

According to police, officers responded to a report of an assault at the store on West 34th Street and Broadway around 3 pm on Thursday. Aherne was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple counts including assault, weapons possession, and endangering the welfare of a child - despite having no apparent children nearby.

This incident marks the second reported assault at Macy's flagship in less than a month, following a separate case involving a 65-year-old woman who was taken into custody after allegedly hitting a 71-year-old man on the head multiple times. The NYPD is still investigating what led to Aherne's attack.

According to the latest available data from the NYPD, there has been a slight increase in felony assaults within the Midtown South Precinct, where Macy's is located, compared to the same period last year - with 516 reported incidents through December 7.

omg this is insane 🤯 what's goin on w/ this woman? stabbin someone multiple times @ Macy's? like, can u imagine walkin into a store and just losin it like that? 🤕 anywayz, 516 felony assaults in midtown south precinct already?! that's crazy! 🚨 NYPD needs to get to the bottom of this, esp w/ 2 incidents in less than a month... seems like they need to step up security or somethin 💡

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this 🤯. Like, what's going on at Macy's? First, it's a lady hitting some dude over the head, and now another woman is stabbing someone multiple times?! That's crazy 😱. I remember when I was in high school (back in 2015), we had these 'assault' incidents happening all the time... I guess you could say the city has just gotten more wild 🌪️. It's not like it's a surprise, though - crime rates have been on the rise, and Midtown South Precinct is getting slammed with felonies 💔. 516 reported incidents in one year? That's insane!

I'm so worried about these women getting attacked at their workplace 😔👥. I mean, can't we just get along? It's already stressful enough shopping during the holidays 🎄😩. And to make it worse, Macy's has had like two incidents in a month... what's going on with our city? 🤯 The NYPD needs to step up their game and figure out what's causing these attacks 😊. I'm just glad the victim is stable, fingers crossed she'll be okay soon 🤞. And Aherne getting charged with attempted murder? That's some crazy stuff 🚫.

🤕👀 Oh man, another crazy incident at Macy's! I mean, I love shopping at those iconic stores, but sometimes it feels like they're just breeding grounds for drama 🙅‍♀️. Like, what's going on with these women? First, one is hitting someone in the head, and now another is stabbing someone multiple times?! 🤯 It's just not right.

And to make matters worse, Aherne had no kids around to care for - I guess that's supposed to be a defense or something? 🤔 Anyway, 516 reported incidents of felony assaults in Midtown South Precinct alone is crazy talk! 🚨 What's going on with these communities? Can't we all just get along and shop in peace without all the drama? 😩

🤯 can you even imagine having a meltdown like that in one of the busiest shopping spots in the world?! I mean, what was going on in Kerri Aherne's head? She just walks up to this random woman and starts stabbing her multiple times... like, is she insane or something?! 😱 And to make matters worse, she has no kids around, so it doesn't even make sense why she'd be charged with endangering a child. 🤷‍♀️ I'm all for holding people accountable for their actions, but come on! A slight increase in felonies at Macy's isn't exactly shocking news, though... maybe they should look into hiring more security or something?

this whole thing just smells like drama, you know? like, what was she thinking stab someone at macy's? and now the cops are all over it like a bad rash 🤦‍♀️🚔. but seriously, have u noticed how often u hear about these random assaults in midtown lately? like, is there something specific going on here or is just that part of new york life now? 🤑 idk maybe i'm just reading too much into it, but it does seem like a weird coincidence that there's been 2 incidents at macy's in less than a month. some ppl might say its the fault of social media or whatever, but honestly, id rather think its just bad luck 😂.

This is crazy 🤯! I mean, stabbing someone at Macy's? That's just not cool. I'm glad the victim is stable, but it's still super scary thinking about what happened. The NYPD needs to figure out what went down with Aherne and why she had that knife on her. 516 felony assaults in one precinct? That's too high if you ask me... something's gotta be done 🤔💪

OMG, like what's going on at this Macy's?! 🤯 I'm still trying to process this crazy news... A woman stabbing another at one of the busiest stores in NYC? That's just wild! I mean, I've heard rumors about some sketchy stuff happening at that store before, but this is taking it to a whole new level. I feel so bad for the victim who got attacked - she must be traumatized right now 🤕.

And can we talk about Kerri Aherne for a sec? Like what was going through her mind?! She had no kids around and yet she's still charged with endangering a child's welfare... that just doesn't add up to me. Anyway, I'm all for the NYPD investigating this further - maybe they'll uncover some hidden motives behind this attack.

Anywayz, this whole incident is making me super grateful for the safety measures in place at Macy's 🙏. Like, those security guards and cameras are definitely doing their job right now. Let's hope this incident doesn't deter people from shopping there, 'cause that store is like a NYC institution 💕

🤔 just read about this crazy thing that happened at Macy's yesterday... stabbing someone multiple times? that's wild. i'm glad the other lady is stable though. anyway, think it's weird that she got charged with endangering a child... no kids around, right? makes you wonder what was going on in her head. also, 516 reported incidents of felony assaults in that precinct this year? that's like, a lot. hope they get a handle on it soon. 🤷‍♀️

🚨😱 just heard about this crazy incident at Macy's Herald Square and I'm still trying to process it... a woman stabbing someone multiple times?! 🤯 how did things escalate like that? I mean, I know we've been hearing about rising crime rates in NYC lately, but this is just shocking. 📊 and now I see the NYPD is saying there's been an increase in felony assaults in Midtown South Precinct... it's like, what's going on?! 💔 I hope the victim recovers fully from her injuries, though! 😕

OMG, like what's going on with these ladies at Macy's?! 🤯 First, this 65-year-old woman is like totally crazy and hits a 71-yr-old dude in the head... and now we got another lady, Kerri Aherne, stabbin' someone multiple times?! 😱 That's just insane! I don't get it, what sets these people off? Is there some kinda toxic vibe at Macy's or somethin'? 🤔 And now they're talkin' about a slight increase in felonies in Midtown... like, we need to do better than this, fam! 💪 We gotta keep our communities safe and supportive. Anywayz, hope the stabbed lady recovers ASAP! 💕

omg u guys, stabbing someone like that's just crazy 😱 i mean, i know people get stressed and emotional but stabbing someone? that's just not right. and what's even crazier is she had no kids nearby lol, so who was the child endangering part about? that's just weird. anyway, it's sad that 2 people got hurt in Macy's already this month... it sounds like they need to step up security or something 🚨. and i heard there were a few more assaults in midtown south last year too, so maybe we should be worried 🤔.

OMG, like I was just thinking about how crazy it is that we have so many random crimes happening at major places like Macy's and suddenly there's this lady who stabbed someone like a real-life episode from The O.C.! 🤯 I'm still trying to wrap my head around why she had no kids nearby when the NYPD said she was charged with endangering a child... it just seems so out of left field. Anyway, I hope the victim recovers soon and this incident doesn't get anyone else hurt 😕. It's kinda weird that we have more felony assaults happening in Midtown now compared to last year too... like what's going on? 🤔

Man, this whole thing just breaks my heart... 🤕 I mean, what happened to Kerri Aherne? One minute she's a perfectly normal person, and the next, she goes and stabs some woman multiple times... it's like, what triggered that? Was there something in her life that made her snap?

You know, it's funny how sometimes we think we've got everything under control, but really, we're just one wrong turn away from chaos. It makes me think about all the times I've let stress and anxiety get the best of me... I've been there too, feeling like I'm on the edge, waiting for something to snap.

But here's the thing: our actions have consequences, and those consequences can affect not just ourselves, but others around us. So, what can we learn from this? We gotta take care of ourselves, make sure we're not letting life get out of hand. And if someone is struggling, like Kerri Aherne might've been, we should be looking to help them out, not hurting them.

It's all about balance, you know? Taking care of ourselves while also being mindful of how our actions can impact others... it's a tough one, but I think that's what makes life so beautiful. 🌈

🚔💣 This is just getting outta control, especially with Macy's being a public place 🤯. What's going on with these women? First, it's assault, then suddenly you're stabbing someone? That's not how things resolve, fam. And what's with the 'endangering the welfare of a child' charge? She ain't got no kids nearby 🤷‍♀️. It just seems like a whole lotta weirdos out here. We need to figure out what's causing this rise in violence 💡.

omg you guys, another insane thing is happening in NYC and I just can't even... so like the police are saying that Kerri Aherne stabbed this woman multiple times at Macy's and it's crazy to think about how quickly things escalated. I mean, 516 reported incidents of felony assaults in Midtown South Precinct already? that's wild. but what's really worrying me is that Aherne didn't even have any kids around to be endangering their welfare, so like what was she thinking?! and another assault at Macy's just last month? this store has got to take some serious security measures ASAP 🤯💥

omg you guys can u believe this?! 🤯 like i love macys but not because of some psycho stabbing ppl 😱 first off, i was at macys on christmas last yr and it was literally the best time ever, loved all the decorations & festive vibes 💖 & now this? no way 🙅‍♀️ i dont even wanna think about it 😓 how could someone do that to another human being? 🤕 like what's wrong with ppl these days?! 🚫 anyway, i hope the person who got stabbed recovers soon 🙏 and macys needs to step up their security game 🚔 like seriously, 516 felonies in one area? that's wild 🌪️

omg what's going on here 😱😨 i feel so bad for that other girl who got stabbed like multiple times at macy's it cant be easy to deal with that kinda trauma 🤕 and now there's another incident just last month and its getting a bit scary... the nypd needs to step up their game & make sure people are safe downtown 💯 i hope kerri gets the help she needs & the victim recovers fully soon 🙏💪

🤔 this is getting out of hand... I mean, I'm not one to jump to conclusions or anything, but two attacks in less than a month at the same store? it's definitely a red flag. and now they're talking about an increase in felonies in that area? 🚨 I just hope our mental health services are on top of this... like, how many resources do we need before people start to lose it? 🤷‍♀️
