Radiohead play career-spanning set in first concert since 2018

Radiohead kicked off their highly anticipated European tour in Madrid last night with a career-spanning setlist that drew from nearly all nine of their studio albums. The sold-out crowd was treated to an eclectic mix of fan favorites and deeper cuts, showcasing the band's incredible range and depth.

The show, which was the first major concert for Radiohead since 2018, featured a whopping 21 songs, including iconic tracks like "Let Down" from OK Computer and "Karma Police". However, it was clear that this was no greatest hits setlist – instead, the band delved into their extensive catalog with surprising frequency. The highlight of the night came when Thom Yorke briefly walked off stage in Melbourne last year after a heckler shouted about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; fans expressed mixed feelings about the incident, but ultimately praised the music for its power to transcend.

For long-time fan Alessandra Fossati, who has seen Radiohead perform 50 times, this tour was a special opportunity to witness the band's continued evolution. "They always change from one record to another," she noted. "I used to be a U2 fan, but they kept doing the same things – and after a while you get bored." Meanwhile, new fans were thrilled to experience the band's atmospheric soundscapes for themselves.

The band's decision to tackle sensitive topics like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has not gone unnoticed; last year's performance in Melbourne sparked controversy when Thom Yorke walked off stage. However, many fans defended Radiohead's stance on social issues, citing their long history of activism and advocacy. Despite this, it was clear that some were divided on the matter.

Radiohead's European tour promises to be a thrilling ride for fans, with stops in Spain, Italy, the UK, and Germany before wrapping up on December 12th. With their reputation for pushing boundaries and experimenting with sound, this show will undoubtedly be one to remember – but only those who braved the early queues outside Movistar Arena in Madrid can attest to that fact.

With little chat between the band members and the crowd beyond the occasional "gracias", Radiohead delivered a captivating performance that highlighted their enduring appeal. While some may have been disappointed by their absence from the headlines, this tour is a testament to the power of music to bring people together and transcend politics.

🎸 Radiohead's European tour was lit 🔥! I mean, 21 songs in one night? That's dedication 🙌. Thom Yorke's walk-off stage incident in Melbourne last year was pretty wild 🤯. Some fans were divided on the topic, but it's clear that music can be a powerful force for change 💖. The crowd loved every minute of it, even if there wasn't much interaction between the band and audience 🤷‍♂️. Still, it's reassuring to see Radiohead continuing to push boundaries with their sound 🎧. Can't wait to see what they have in store for Berlin next 🚨

man... i was thinking about how artists like radiohead take risks by tackling tough topics in their music... it's not always easy to please everyone, but that's what makes it so powerful, you know? they're not just making music for the fans who love them, they're making it for the world. and sometimes that means getting criticized or even walking off stage... but like alessandra said, that's all part of what makes radiohead special - their ability to evolve and change with each new record. and it's amazing how their music can bring people together despite our differences 🎸💖

omg, i'm still reeling from last night's radiohead show 🤯! they literally played every single song i've ever wanted to hear - from ok computer to kid a and everything in between 🎸. the crowd was loving it tho, singing along to every word of "karma police" 👏. what really got me was how Thom handled that controversy last year... like, we all know he's not afraid to speak his mind 🤝. for fans like alessandra, who's seen them live 50 times (?!?), it's amazing to see the band evolve and try new things 🎨. new fans are gonna be blown away by their atmospheric soundscapes 🌙. can't wait for the rest of the tour!

I was thinking, Radiohead has come so far since OK Computer, it's crazy to think about how their sound has evolved over the years... 🤯 They've been experimenting with new stuff for ages now, but this tour feels like a whole other level of depth. I love how they included all those deeper cuts – it shows they're not just rehashing old favorites, but actually exploring different parts of their discography.

What's interesting is how the show started off and then got really heavy, especially with that song about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict... 👀 It was like you could feel the tension in the air. But at the same time, it's not like they're preaching or anything – it's just a part of who they are as artists.

I've been following Radiohead since I was 16, and I gotta say, this tour is giving me life! 🎸 The crowd was so into it too... even though we were all a bit nervous about the controversy. But you know what? Music has a way of doing that – it transcends everything.

Do you guys think Radiohead's been making music that's as impactful and thought-provoking over the years, or is this tour just a highlight reel? 🤔

Ugh, I'm so over these massive setslist concerts 🤯. I mean, 21 songs in one show? Can't they just stick to a few fan faves like everyone else? 😒 It's all about catering to the die-hard fans who are gonna shell out the big bucks anyway. And don't even get me started on Thom Yorke walking off stage last year... yeah, I was on the fence about that one too 🤔. On the other hand, I'm glad they're tackling those sensitive topics – it's always refreshing to see a band stand up for what they believe in 💪. But can't we just get some decent opening acts around here? Movistar Arena was packed hours before the show even started... so not impressed 🤷‍♀️.

omg u guys r gonna love this!!! 🤯 i was thinking radiohead's europe tour would be all greatest hits but nope they went full album deep cut mode last night in madrid! i loved how thom yorke didn't shy away from tackling those tough topics like the israeli-palestinian conflict it shows their music has real power to bring people together 🌎 and honestly can't wait to see them live again after hearing that they're gonna play all 9 studio albums! 💥

omg i was so hyped for this concert!! 🤩 i mean, who doesn't love radiohead? they're like the ultimate band for anyone into alt rock or just great music in general. but seriously, it's amazing that they're still able to put on such an epic show after all these years. Thom Yorke's voice is still giving me chills 🎸 and i loved how they mixed up their setlist with old and new songs. it was like a journey through their discography! and yeah, the fact that they tackled sensitive topics like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict shows just how brave and thought-provoking they are as artists. can't wait to see what's next for this tour! 💖

OMG I'M SO GLAD RADIOHEAD IS BACK ON TOUR!!! 😍 THEY ALWAYS KNOW HOW TO PUT ON A SHOW WITH THEIR UNIQUE SOUNDSCAPES AND THOM YORKE'S POWERFUL VOICES 🎤👏. IT WAS AMAZING TO SEE THEM PLAY DEEPER CUTS LIKE "KID A" FROM THEIR KID A OR KID B LPs, SHOWCASING THEIR INCREDIBLE RANGE AND DEPTH 📈. SOME PEOPLE MIGHT HAVE BEEN DIVIDED ABOUT THE ISRAELI-PALESTINE CONFLICT THINGS BUT LET'S BE REAL IT WAS AWESOME TO SEE THEM USE THEIR MUSIC AS A TOOL FOR CHANGE 🌎👍

That's insane 💥 Thom Yorke walking off stage in Melbourne was super dramatic 😂 but honestly it just added to the drama of the whole thing. I love how they always keep changing and pushing boundaries - like, you never know what's gonna happen 🎶 as a parent I'm all about the kids exploring their passions too 💖 Radiohead is proof that music can bring everyone together no matter what age group or politics 🌎

omg just saw that radiohead kicked off their european tour in madrid last night 🤩🎸 they played so many deep cuts and fan faves i'm talking 21 songs for one show!! 💥 Thom's voice is still insane btw 👏 but yeah, it was weird seeing them tackle sensitive topics like the israeli-palestinian conflict again 🤔 i mean, some fans love it while others are just over it 😂 anyway, can't wait to see what they have in store for us next ⚡

so glad they're back 🎸🎶 they've really got it right with this setlist, didn't expect them to play so many deep cuts but it made sense given how epic their discography is... been a fan for years, Alessandra's words hit home for me too, i used to be more into the usual rock bands like u2 and stuff but radiohead's always pushed boundaries & experimented with sound in ways that keep me engaged 🤯 Thom Yorke's got some serious guts for tackling those sensitive topics though... might not agree with everyone's views on it but at least they're having the conversation 🤝 can't wait to see them live again! 👏

i'm so hyped for radiohead's europe tour 🤩🎸 they always push boundaries with their sound and i love how they mix old and new tracks - it's like they're speaking directly to your soul 💭🎶 my friend saw them 5 times last year and said the energy was electric 🔥 they tackled some heavy topics on stage but you could feel the passion and conviction behind it 💖 it's not just a concert, it's an experience 🌐 let's see how the rest of the tour goes! 🤞

omg I'm still trying to figure out what a 21-song setlist even means lol did they just play like every song ever or something? 🤣 i mean i love radiohead too but i don't know how many songs u can fit into one show...anyway i heard it was super cool and they played some deep cuts which is awesome because i've always wanted to hear more of those tracks i'm def gonna try to find vids online or something to relive the experience 🎵

I'm so stoked for Radiohead's European tour 🤩! I mean, 21 songs in one show? That's just insane! They're like a fine wine, getting better with age...or in this case, decade after decade 🍷. I love how they mix it up, playing old and new tracks to keep things fresh. But what really gets me is how they tackle those tough topics – it's not always easy listening, but it's definitely thought-provoking 🤔.

I've seen them live before (in 2001!), and it's like a spiritual experience...or at least that's how I felt 😊. The energy in the room is just electric, and Thom's voice still gives me chills 😍. And yeah, some people might have been divided about their stance on social issues last year, but honestly? I think that's what makes them so amazing – they're not afraid to speak their minds and push boundaries 🌈.

I'm planning to brave the queues myself (if I can get tickets, haha!) because this tour is going to be a wild ride 🎠. Can't wait to see if they'll play any new material or tease us with hints of what's to come 🤫. One thing's for sure: Radiohead's music has always been about more than just the songs – it's about the experience, the vibe, and the connection we share with others ❤️. Bring it on, Europe!

🤩 I'm so stoked they're finally back on tour! 21 songs in one show? That's insane! I've seen them live like 3 times and it never gets old. The fact that Thom Yorke walked off stage last year was kinda intense, but at the end of the day, his voice is what matters most. Their music has this way of making you feel all the emotions... it's honestly life-changing. Can't wait to see them perform in the UK 🇬🇧 and experience that raw energy again!

omg what a show!!! 😍 i was so hyped to see them live and they did not disappoint!! their setlist had everything - old faves like "let down" and "karma police" plus some deeper cuts that only true fans would know 🤫 the energy in the crowd was electric! Alessandra's comment about long-time fans being bored if the band doesn't change it up is so true though, radiohead has always been about evolution and taking risks with their music 💥 can't wait for the rest of the tour!!

omg I was like at that festival in 2019 where they played OK Computer and it gave me chills like i've never felt before 🤩, but anyway back to Radiohead... I'm so glad they're doing this tour again after being inactive for a while it's like we've all been waiting for this moment for ages. And I love how they're playing old songs alongside new ones - it's gonna be crazy to see what setlist they come up with each night 🤯, and yeah some people might have been mad about the controversy from last year but honestly who cares when you've got that much amazing music? the fact that they're still pushing boundaries and experimenting is what makes them so incredible. anyway can't wait for this tour to start! 💥

🚨 Bad News Alert 🚨

I just saw the lineup for Radiohead's European tour and I'm already dreading the crowds... like, literally, have you seen the lines outside Movistar Arena in Madrid? People were camping out for hours to get good seats. Is this really necessary? Can't they just release a link to the concert tickets online or something?

And don't even get me started on the prices... $1,000+ per ticket? Are you kidding me?! That's like buying a small house. I know I'm not getting any younger, but can't I just enjoy some live music without breaking the bank?

I swear, with all this hype around Radiohead's tour, it's gonna be a logistical nightmare out there. And what about the people who aren't lucky enough to score tickets? Are they doomed to miss out on the "highlight of their lives"? 🎵😩

🤷‍♀️ so they finally decide to do a proper concert after 7 years, wow what a surprise 🙄 and 21 songs? that's cute, like you're trying to give us a taste of their whole discography without actually giving us anything substantial 😒 but hey, at least it's not just the usual hits all night long... and btw, who needs small talk between band members and crowd when you can just be awkward in your silence 🤫
