RFK Jr.’s dietary guidance: Food funnel features slab of red meat, butter

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s dietary guidelines have been unveiled with a twist - the classic food pyramid has been turned upside down, resembling a funnel, and its traditional structure has been jumbled up.

According to the revised guidelines, Americans are now advised to start their diet with large slabs of red meat, wedge of cheese, roasted bird, broccoli, carrots, frozen peas, whole milk, unsweetened yogurt, "healthy fats" like olive oil and butter, fruits, nuts, and finally, at the bottom of the funnel, whole grains.

Critics argue that this approach is contradictory to their own recommendations, which advise limiting saturated fat intake. The American Heart Association has expressed concerns over the guidelines, noting that saturated fats are a primary driver of cardiovascular disease.

The new guidance also rolls back previous limits on alcohol, instead urging Americans to "drink less." This move has drawn criticism from outside experts, who argue that this approach could have negative health consequences.

Moreover, several experts involved in crafting the final document have ties to the meat and dairy industry, raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest. The American Medical Association has praised the new guidelines for addressing highly processed foods but notes that there is still a need for clearer definitions and guidance on how consumers can identify these products.

Overall, Kennedy's revised dietary guidelines are sparking controversy among nutrition experts and public health advocates, who worry that they may prioritize corporate interests over scientific evidence.

🤔 the meat lobby just got a major win 🥩💸 and i'm lowkey worried about this 🤷‍♂️ 60% of americans are already on a path to obesity so do we really need more red meat in our diets? 🤦‍♂️ fun fact: saturated fat intake is linked to heart disease, which kills over 360k americans annually 💀. according to the american heart association, you should limit your daily saturated fat intake to no more than 5-6% of your total diet daily 📊.

chart time! 📈 here's a comparison of the old food pyramid vs kennedy's revised guidelines:

old food pyramid:
grains (60%)
veggies and fruits (20%)
dairy (10%)
meat & poultry (10%)

kennedy's revised guidelines:
whole grains (25%)
red meat & poultry (50%)
dairy & healthy fats (30%)
fruits, veggies & nuts (25%)
fun fact: the average american consumes over 28 lbs of cheese per year 🧀.

man i remember when the food pyramid was all about eating more grains it's wild to see it get flipped on its head now with so much red meat at the top 🤯 i'm not a doctor or anything but isn't saturated fat bad for you? like, my grandma used to tell me that all the time she'd always say "you know what's good for the soul?" and then she'd give me an ice cream cone 🍦 anyway back in the day it seemed like everyone was on the same page about healthy eating but now it feels like there are so many different opinions and no one's really sure what's true anymore 😕

omg u no wut? i thot kennedy jr's new diet guidlines were gonna b a game changer... but idk bout dis funnel thingy 🤷‍♀️. i mean, all that red meat & cheese at the top? sounds like a heart attack waitin to happen 💉. and dont even get me started on the alcohol part... drink less? how r we s'posed 2 know wut's healthy 2 begin w/ 🍻. gotta agree w/ american heart assoc, sat fatz r def the enemy here. but at the same time, i'm lowkey stoked that they're tryin 2 take on highly processed foods 💪. just wish dey would've done more research before sharin' dis w/ us 🤔.

This is crazy 🤯, I mean think about it - the classic food pyramid getting turned upside down like a funnel! Who knew starting with red meat & cheese would be the way to go? But seriously, this whole thing has me scratching my head... like, why does America need its own version of food guidelines? And what's up with all these experts having ties to the meat & dairy industry? It feels like a big ol' conflict of interest 🤑. I'm not saying it's all bad - at least they're talking about whole grains being last on the list. Maybe we can finally kick those processed foods to the curb 💪. But, gotta wonder if our health is gonna suffer because of all this corporate influence... 🤔

OMG I'm so confused about these new diet guidelines 🤯... like, I know we've gotta balance our eating habits but this funnel thing is just too much 😂! Starting with red meat and cheese? Didn't we used to think those were bad for us? 🤔 And what's up with whole grains at the bottom of the funnel? Don't they figure that's where all the good stuff should be? 🍞👀 I'm worried about these conflicts of interest too... wouldn't it be better if experts just stuck to the science without any corporate ties? 💸 I hope people do their research and not just follow whatever's trendy. We need clear info so we can make informed choices, you know? 🤓

Ugh man this is so sus 🤔! Like, I get it Robert F Kennedy Jr is all about the natural vibes but come on a whole slab of red meat to start? That's not even healthy lol 😂. And what's up with the dairy industry connections? Can't we just have some real science behind these guidelines for once? 🙄 Not to mention, those American Heart Association people are literally saying saturated fats are bad for you... what's going on here? 👀

🤔 I'm totally confused by this new food pyramid thingy! 🍴 It's like, what's the deal with all that red meat at the top? Don't get me wrong, a good burger now and then isn't bad, but shouldn't we be focusing on leaner options? 🥗 The American Heart Association is giving me major concerns over saturated fats... #SaturatedFatAwareness

And I'm low-key worried about those ties to the meat and dairy industry... 🤑 It feels like corporate interests are taking a backseat to scientific evidence. Can't we just have clear guidelines on what's healthy and what's not? 🤷‍♀️ I mean, wouldn't that be a great way to promote transparency in food production? #FoodTransparencyMatters

But hey, at least they're saying "drink less" instead of "don't drink at all"... 😊 That's a step in the right direction, right? Still, I'm gonna keep my eye on this one... it feels like there's more to the story than meets the eye. 🤔 #StayVigilant

idk about this new food pyramid thing 🤔... i mean, what if the saturated fats are actually good for us? 🥑 my friend's uncle is a cardiologist but he said the opposite - that it's all about balance and moderation... but then again, some of these experts have ties to big corps, so you never know 💸... and what about processed foods? shouldn't we be cutting those out entirely or at least being super clear on what's in them? 🤷‍♀️ and i'm not even gonna get started on the whole "drink less" thing - isn't that just a nice way of saying 'we're not gonna tell you to quit drinking altogether'? 😏

idk why they're making it so complicated 🤔... just tell us what we should eat already! like, if I wanna chow down on some good ol' fashioned bacon and cheese, don't @ me 🤣... but seriously, a funnel food pyramid? sounds like a recipe for disaster to me 🚨. why are they trying to flip the classic structure on its head just for the sake of being different? just give us plain old boring guidelines like everyone else's already 🙄... and btw, what even is "healthy fats"? just olive oil or butter? 🤷‍♂️

🤔 this whole thing feels like a big mess to me 🍎 I mean, I get what Kennedy is trying to do - shake things up and get people talking about their diet again 💬 but this new guideline is just so... backwards 🔄 I'm all for red meat and cheese being at the top of the pyramid but come on, folks! Limiting saturated fat intake isn't that hard to understand 🤷‍♀️ and what's with the "drink less" advice? Don't they know that moderate drinking can be good for you? 🍺👀

Meat at the top, grains at the bottom? 🤯😂

Saturated fats are bad, but butter is good? 🧀😝

Kennedy's guidelines: because who needs cardiovascular health anyway? ❤️‍🔥

idk why they gotta mess with the classic food pyramid 🤔. it seems like they're just trying to sell more burgers & milkshakes 🍔🥛. those guidelines are all about profit over people's health. and what's up with the "drink less" advice? isn't that just a fancy way of saying "eat more"? also, shouldn't there be some stricter rules on food processing? it seems like they're just giving the meat & dairy industries a free pass 🤑.

Wow 🤯, this new dietary guideline from Robert F. Kennedy Jr is totally throwing us for a loop! Interesting 🤔, I mean who expects to start with red meat and cheese? And what's up with the lack of processed foods at the top? Like, isn't that where all the extra calories are coming from? 🍿 Also, I'm low-key surprised they're just telling people to "drink less" instead of giving a specific limit. That could lead to some nasty hangovers 😷. And omg, conflicts of interest with the meat and dairy industry? Talk about a recipe for disaster 🤢!

idk about this new diet guidelins lol 😂 they got it all wrong 1st they say u should start with red meat but isnt that gonna give u heart problems 🤔? n then u gotta put broccoli at the bottom of the funnel lol who comes up with dis?! 🙄 i mean i like my cheese & milk but not if its gonna hurt me in the long run. its all about balance, i thot 🤷‍♀️

😒 I'm not sure I agree with this new food pyramid from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. It seems like the opposite of what I learned in school - we used to be told to eat more fruits and veggies, then whole grains, and only a little bit of dairy. Now it's all about that red meat? 🤔 I'm not saying a slice of cheese or a piece of chicken isn't okay every now and then, but does this really mean we should be eating like that most days? And what's with the "drink less" thing? I mean, come on, if you enjoy a glass of wine with dinner, why cut it back so much? 🍷 It just feels like some big food corporations are trying to push their stuff and make us eat more of it. And those ties to the meat and dairy industry... yeah, that's not good. 👎

idk wut's goin on here 🤔... i mean, isnt the food pyramid rite outta date 2 begin w/ all da saturated fats & red meat? its kinda sus 2 me 2 that they're rippin up da old guidelines 2o make it more "funnel" shaped lol. dont get me wrong, i no u gotta make changes 2 the way we eat but this just feels like a cop out 2 me 🤷‍♀️. i mean, cant we jus stick w/ the basics: fruits, veggies, whole grains? why r we makin it so complicated now? 🤯

OMG 😱 this new diet guideline from Robert F. Kennedy Jr is like a disaster 💥 first of all it's just plain backwards everyone knows to start with fruits and veggies not red meat 🤯 what about the saturated fat part it's like they forgot that's supposed to be bad for u 🙄 now I'm worried 'bout my health just looking at this 🤷‍♀️

🤔 I'm just not sure about these new guidelines from Robert F. Kennedy Jr... it feels like a step back in the right direction? 🙄 Like, what's up with the order of the pyramid? It's literally upside down and all over the place! 🤯 How can we trust that this is based on actual science when you're putting cheese at the top? 🧀 And don't even get me started on the meat and dairy industry ties... it just feels like a conflict of interest to me. 🤑 What's next, are we gonna start telling people to smoke more cigarettes because they're "healthy fats"? 😂 Anyway, I think the AMA is right that there needs to be clearer guidance on highly processed foods, but this whole thing just doesn't add up for me...
