SEPTA, transport workers union reach new contract to avoid strike

OMG u guys!!! i cant even bleeve thats happened!! septa & twu finally reached a deal after all those threats of a strike 🤯 its literally 3.5% wage increase which isnt bad tho but lets be real its about the other stuff too like pension benefits & health ins 🤑 and didnt think they were gonna give in on vision & dental coverage for new hires thats super cool! also i guess septa is acknowledging that staffing management needs to improve lol

i mean governor shapiro got involved & made a difference big time 🙌 smart move by him tho maybe we can see more of this kinda thing in the future?

anyway cant wait 2 hear about whats next for SEPTA & twu... lets keep our fingers crossed they can get another deal done w/o too much drama

I don't usually comment but I think it's a bit weird that SEPTA has to go through all this drama just to keep their workers happy 🤯. Like, can't they just make everyone work together? It feels like there's always some new union or group trying to get more benefits and concessions. Meanwhile, the general public is still dealing with traffic jams and delays on the bus 💨. I don't know if a "retention contract" sounds like a good idea - it just seems like SEPTA is giving in too much to their demands 🤑. But hey, at least the governor stepped in and helped prevent a strike this time 👏. Maybe they can use this as an opportunity to have some real, honest discussions with the unions about how to make things work for everyone 🤝.

im glad they were able to reach a deal without any major issues 🙏. 3.5% wage increase isn't bad, but i think its about time septa gets more funding for its employees 👍. the thing thats got me thinking is how this affects commuters like us... we need reliable services, and if septa can manage absences better, that'll be a big plus 🚂. governor shapiro's been trying to help, and i'm glad he did 💯. now lets see how it plays out with smart local 1594 😉
