Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Manchester United's Bryan Mbeumo are among the UK-based players to have been selected for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The tournament is set to commence on December 21 in Morocco.
A total of 53 players from 19 out of the 24 competing nations have so far been named in their squads. Notably, Benin, Comoros, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon are the only four countries that do not include any UK-based players in their squads.
Some notable UK-based players who have made it to the list include Manuel Benson (Swansea), Dango Ouattara (Brentford), Bertrand Traore (Sunderland) and Issa Kabore (Wrexham). The full list of UK-based players has not been released yet.
The tournament will consist of the group stages, which will take place from December 21 to December 31. The last 16 round will follow on January 3-6, followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals and third-place play-off matches.
